I used C++ Builder at college for my RAD classes, it was pretty comfy. But C# is superior for GUI programming and Visual Studio is free.

Visual studio community is just perfect, smooth integration with git as well

Qt creator is fun

eclipse + sublime

(might play around with emacs though)

CodeBlocks is the best C++ IDE for me. It's open source, user friendly (which means the GUI does not look like trash) and works better than other IDEs.

Have any of you suggesting text editors ever worked on a large project? How can you work on a codebase with more than 5K LOC? I tried with nerdtree and airline but it wasn't enough.
