No but Note 7 is over. Samsung is a much bigger company than just one of it's phone's production lines.

It was probably the right thing to do, they needed to kill the story and this is basically the only way. Just refund their customers, recall the phones, move on. If any customers really want to keep their phones, then let them and tell them to power it off until Samsung works out what the fuck was going wrong.

Eventually, they'll work it out and release a note 8 and maybe fix any note 7s still in the wild. I bet all future mobile development is being paused until they work out what the fuck happened though, assuming that they don't already know.

Some sort of 'clean slate' maneuver will be performed, maybe heads will roll or they'll close a factory or something but they'll do something that tells the market that Steps Have Been Taken.
