Why would you need a tutorial to use visual studio? Sure, if you want to use the advanced features maybe, but for the most part it's self explanatory to just start a project and compile and run. Anything specific like how to use the GUI designer should be taught as part of the class anyway.

My biggest complaint about VS is that it takes like 8 hours to install and messes with the registry/OS so it's completely non-portable. Not to mention that I've had issues where VS compiled files don't work on a computer other than the one they were compiled on (even though both had the same OS and .NET framework version).

It's pretty good, it has lots of features which is what you want from an IDE. Way too much shit though, shouldn't be used unless you're a professional Microcuck dev. Otherwise you won't be able to utilise it properly for it to be worth using.

At my school we have to make sure all our code compiles on the school's Linux servers, then we're free to use whatever editor/IDE.
