Why would I want that
I love Monaco but the fucking font triggers me with tmux. I want straight lines for my windows, and Monaco doesn't do that.
>>57005442
You are missing the point dude... The guy is saying that is an open source font that doesn't look like shjt and doesn't give you "tofu"
>>57005467
You're using the wrong character for pane borders
>>57005307
that is not Fixedsys Excelsior
>Monaco for fixed-widthWWWW
>SFNS Display for variable-width
adobe source code pro & ubuntu fonts
nearly everything else is shit-tier by comparison

Monaco looks like blurry unreadable shit at small point sizes.
I have done an extensive search for the best programmer font. DejaVu Sans Mono is it. Not only does the font align nicely along the horizontal lines, typographically, but it is one of the few fonts that doesn't have completely wacky line spacing at the top and bottom that I have to override by hand in my editors on any platform I've tried it on. This is incredibly important if you like ASCII or ANSI art, because otherwise the line-drawing blocks will all be physically separated from each other and look like complete shit.
If your favorite font doesn't render the box-drawing test on the "Box-drawing character" Wikipedia page correctly, replace it. (I'd paste it here, but this board thinks the post is spam)
>>57005684
give source code pro a try. you won't be disappointed
>>57005307
>not using Courier New
>>57005684
>DejaVu Sans Mono is it
Nope. Menlo is better. They took DejaVu Sans Mono and fixed the warts.
Menlo > *
>>57005684
Looks good to me
>>57005822
he probably used it with font-smoothing still enabled, hence him saying "blurry"
he shouldn't use font-smoothing on sizes that small, it's a known rule and people like him should be hanged.
But I am using Menlo
>>57005372
>Noto
I just started using this a couple of days ago. I really like it so far.
Because I use THIS
>>57006197
>subpixel with profont
What the fuck are you doing
>>57006275
Not caring.
>>57005307
Nothing is a good as PragmataPro. Input font comes close. No regret for paying 200$ for it. I want to try Operator Mono soon.
>>57006384
>ligatures
please kys
>>57006427
Actually, I don't use ligatures (as my editor doesn't support it).
>>57006197
>ProFont
>with font smoothing on
disgusting
>>57006928
What the fuck is wrong with profont? dont make me cut you poes
>>57007345
nothing wrong with ProFont, but it wasn't meant to be used with font smoothing of any kind
>>57007389
Oh ok sorry for holding the knife to you then he he
