Is there a future for BB10? Am I fucking myself in the ass if I bought a Passport today?

apps might stop being supported, but it emulates android, so you can just download and install apks from online
>>57003916
I own 2 passports and 1 classic. I have no problem with apps due to android runtime. Its a solid device, just know that its a dead end.
>>57003963
not new versions of Android
>>57003916
Yeah, BlackBerry has wound down their phone manufacturing division and is outsourcing their designs to Alcatel/TCL. So they will probably be sticking to Android which means BB10 is on deathwatch.

>fucked
yes
I've been on BBOS 10 for more than two years, all I can say is that it's a great ecosystem, in fact it's the most "productive/straightforward with no string attached" smartphone OS and that does the job out there.
However the market has no need for this poor niche device and its ecosystem, so its value is non-existent. You're either lagdroid or ioshit.
After the two years of good service, I simply chose to ditch my Q10 out of boredom for an android device. As I'm not the type to hoard hardware, I decided to resell it to second-hand specialists, these sellers can buy from anyone their old smartphones in order to resell with a profit margin.
In the end no one wanted my smartphone saying they will have a hard time reselling it.
So in other words second-hand BB OS devices and Lumia phones don't have any kind of value in 2016/2017

>In the end no one wanted my smartphone saying they will have a hard time reselling it.
That's bullshit, businesses love BlackBerrys.
>>57004251
that's the other way around tardo.
Individuals usually buy second-hand hardware from businesses. for example refurbished Thinkpads.
Businesses have no need for a smartphone that owned and used by a 27 years old grown ass dude that posts on a anime imageboard.

>that *was owned.
>>57004298
>who not that
holee fuk, I need some sleep
>>57004298
Yeah, I'm sure small businesses buy their employees brand new phones every year.
>>57004251
Every successful corporate-y person I know uses iPhone, except for this one guy with a Samsung S6.
>>57004318
Small businesses can also buy second-hand devices for their employees but only from other trusted businesses that specialize in this kind of stuff and I highly doubt that they will buy from flea markets or street resellers.
Add to that this fact >>57004324 because yes, even businesses big or small are ditching Blackberry.
BB devices have little no value nowadays, it's sad but it's the truth.

I see them still sell for 180-220€ regularly on eBay, with silver edition for 250-300€.

Would you buy a used Q10 for $70 ?
>>57003963
Yes, but some apps runs like shit, like whatsapp. I sold mine because the lack of support for it next year and the android version running just awful.

To think I'm gonna buy a cheap asset Passport as daily driver
I've had a BB Leap for about a year now. I bought it cheap just to try something different. I'm not a huge app person so bb10 suites me just fine. I really wish it weren't a sinking ship because I think the OS is really fluid and stable feeling. I'm somewhat interested in BlackBerry's next physical keyboard phone as the Priv really didn't do it for me. Then again David Chen is usually full of shit so I wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped it already.
I had a Passport but returned it. Loved the device, great screen, but the complete lack of native BB10 apps and the way Android apps render on a Passport made it pretty much useless.
Sad to see BB10 go, I had a Z10 and the PP and loved the OS, too bad app devs never supported it.
Posting from my Passport.
I like it a lot because I only text, email, and call. I love having a physical keyboard and love the experience.
That being said, we pretty much are cucked.
I just upgraded to the Passport from a Jolla. BB10 kick the shit out of lagdroid, iOS, and even Sailfish.
I only wish I had learned about the Passport sooner.
Do it OP, I promise you will not regret it

No apps no games
