It's mainly used by my wife's sons tho

Currently have a nearly top-end 2015 15" rMBP as my main machine. Will sell it pretty soon, with a custom built hackintosh tower taking its place as the workhorse and an iPad or smaller macbook/chromebook taking the role of mobile computing device.

I like my rMBP a lot but its lack of powered USB ports and weak graphics are constant annoyances, hence the soon-to-be-built hackintosh tower.

I'm in the market for a laptop right now.

I was looking at the Macbooks but they are really expensive. I also hear the screen is so thin on the airs that you can see the logo through it. This didn't happen when I was trying it out at the store but who knows what it would look like in different lighting. Sounds annoying as fuck.

The model on top of that is the Macbook Pro, which has a great looking screen but its also bigger and more expensive. I was going for as portable as possible. I don't know if the size difference would matter in real life, seems pretty minor.

Apparently Apple products have a really healthy second hand market. They seem to use the defense "ya its alot now but you make some back!". I don't really sell my things, I typically find uses for everything until it breaks entirely. And I don't like the idea of using something that some other dude has been slobbering on for 3 years regardless of how well its cleaned. You ever buy a used game controller? Its like their "essence" remains and its very unsettling. You know what I mean... maybe not.

0. I used to have one, but I have stopped using user subjugating software. I now have an x200 that I librebooted as my laptop. On my desktop I run most user subjugating software in a VM with PCI passthrough, and eventually none will be run in my main OS.

Really solid laptop and most things are replaceable/upgradable. Also I couldn't stand the fucking keyboard on the retinas and airs. Awful.
