2.5" vs 3.5" external harddrive, what's better?
>>56994440
Neither External mechanical drives are trash.
Buy an SSD and stick it in a cheap enclosure.
>>56994454
I already have an SSD in my laptop, not sure why I'd need one for my TV shows and animu tho
>>56994503
I have the 3.5 enermax brick. Perfect
2.5" imo as they don0t neet any external power other than the USB port
>>56994440
3.5, if the usb power supply gets fried on the 2.5 you won't be getting your shit back
>>56994440
For my backup drive, I have a 3.5" WD Red 3TB in an Inateck enclosure.

whatever is cheaper, unless you care about desk space or whatever.

If the "usb power supply gets fried" you can just open it up, take the disk out and put it in another enclosure.
OP, If you want "just werks", go for a 2.5", so you don't have to occupy a power outlet and have ugly cables lying around. Even if you don't plan on moving the drive or taking it with you, a 2.5" is just neater, although more expensive per-GB.
If you want the true 1337 haxx0r experience, get a hard disk dock where you can just plug internal disks and use them. This is the setup I have and it's quite neat because I can just recycle old disks I have lying around. Mine has 2 slots which accept any size of disks. I often use if to recover data when someone's laptop failed.
Another advantage is that normies can't just plug my backup disks into their USB port and steal my lewd pictures. (But the disks are encrypted anyway)
