It might be worth noting that this is an upgrade from a Huawei P8lite. Gonna feel good to get back on a Qualcomm SOC after being on HiSilicon.

As much as I liked the P8lite, the innards really screwed the pooch when it came to custom ROMs and such (virtually nonexistent, with one guy trying desperately to port CM13, to no avail).

Nexuses and OnePlus devices. OP has stated that rooting by itself won't void the warranty, however if you fuck up due to having a rooted device, say overclock and burn your CPU, then the warranty is void.

Not sure about Nexuses though, could be either way.

I've had a Priv for almost a year and the thing has not been treated lightly. As long as you are not completely retarded, it will be fine. Which goes for any phone, really.

One thing I should add is that a lot of the things people were complaining about on launch (overheating, slow camera) were fixed in subsequent software updates. The phone has improved noticeably since Blackberry started releasing patches. The only thing that worries me is that I got a feeling this thing in not going to get Nougat.

I unlocked my OP3 and it has TWRP Recovery.

I downloaded this and tried to install OTA.
It rebooted my system,
Went to TWRP,
And stayed on the TWRP screen.
Didn't know what to do so I pressed reboot system.
Now I get the same update message.
I am NOT rooted. How do I update this? Or can I just press download and install again?
>>
>>56997672
I'd say the simplest fix would be to flash stock recovery, install OTA then re-flash TWRP.

Should be exactly the same as flashing TWRP if you used the adb + fastboot method.

To get stock recovery .img file if you haven't already got it, have a search on xda-devs.

That said, I'm talking from general android experience, I've never owned a OP3.
>>
>>56997789

>>
>>56997814
No worries, internet friend.

For the record, why are you on TWRP if you haven't rooted your device? All it'll serve to do is get in the way of OTA updates if you choose to remain on stock ROMs.
>>
>>56997858
You can flash xposed without flashing a custom ROM tho.
>>

It was my understanding that you'd need to be rooted to make use of Xposed.

I have a RAZR Maxx that lasted me for 5 years but I really wanted an upgrade, since this smartphone is very, very obsolete.
I was looking forward for the Pixel series, but I am pretty sure it will never land in my country (Brazil). I was thinking about buying a S7, but I read that Exynos doesn't work well with custom ROMs. Is that true? If yes, which smartphone, with hardware as good as or close to a Pixel/S7 and that works with custom ROMs, can I get for 600-700 USD?
>>
>>57003289
HTC 10 and OP3 are probably the best option for ROMs at that price range. I'm not sure if imports will end up costing you more though. I'm sure you could also do some chinese phones, I'm not sure about BR cell bands.

Both (HTC 10 and OP3) are the same price in my country so I am really torn between the two of them.

Got a GS5 almost two years ago now and it's consistently been a problem piece of tech. I've dealt w. due to business but I'm gonna have to keep it longer than expected bc I want to buy my next phone off contract and don't have much of a budget.

I have two friends who've had the same model, network, and lived in the same area and these issues have never affected them.

It's always struggled with battery life. I believe due largely to wakelock issues. I've had to keep my screen brightness almost all the way down, w. all network/wireless settings off and found myself running out of battery halfway through a day w my friends phones at 40-60% for comparison, w greater run time, more intensive tasks, screen brightness up, etc.

Multiple factory resets had done nothing. After recently, accidentally upgrading to Marshmallow messenger apps stopped forwarding messages correctly, streaming apps would randomly cut with the screen locked. It seems like apps will arbitrarily decide they receive no data when not directly being interacted with.

Can I fix these issues? Will rooting and flashing a custom rom help? Are there accurate diagnostic tools? Searches have been vague and people haven't publicly documented these issues.

>tfw 128GB Google Pixel XL is $1179 in Canada
I bought my Galaxy S6 64GB for like $900. Why is the Pixel XL so damn expensive

I can sell the Galaxy s6 used for around $500 now, that's the price I see on kijiji. It's in excellent condition because I slapped on tempered glass for the front AND back since day 1.

But fuck, I'll still need another $600 or $700 to buy the Pixel XL

Anyone expect the prices to drop any time soon?

>>
>>57006802
>Will rooting and flashing a custom rom help?
Probably help with troubleshooting if nothing else.

>Are there accurate diagnostic tools?
If you root, yes.

I have a problem with my S5 since updating to Android 6: after some amount of time of being on (often a day, sometimes less, sometimes a week), my battery drain will increase significantly with no obvious culprit. I'm not rooted, so I can't get a full report on wakelocks; instead, I am just informed that some generic android services are mostly responsible (which could be a number of things, like bluetooth, wifi, etc). Sometimes the increased drain will go back to normal on its own, but usually I'm impatient and just reboot the device to go back to normal. Sounds different than your issue, mind.

Stop overheating and having your battery drained so quickly, you stupid fuck.

I feel like going back to the Convoy 3 if this catches on fire.
>>
>>57010621
I know that exact fucking feel. Does it keep crashing on you too?
>>
>>57010725
Fortunately no, but all programs, aside from the browser, slow to a crawl or are outright unresponsive. This all happened last Thursday.

How long has it been happening to you?
>>
>>57010121
AFAIK therei s no chink phone that works with US frequencies (at least not for 4G/4G LTE)
>>
>>57010740
Not sure off the top of my head, but a while. The weird thing is, updates seem to "fix" the problem for about two days, then back to shitsville.

I'll have to call bull on that. The S7 is 600 Teuro at Mediamarkt and they don't haggle about the price.

>>57010517
you're probably renting, faggot

I dont have experience, but all those apps were around in 2013 (when the enact was released).
that being said, they are all larger and more intensive than in 2013

Yes or no? Since op3 won't go on sale it's 100% out of the question. Might wait on axon 7 possible black friday but this seems good

How is it that there is not "Best Smartphone"?
Let's make it stock android, no bloat at all.
5.5" screen with a goo display, good camera, removable storage, dual sim, large battery (+3000 mAH), 4+ gb RAM, and top-tier chipset.
Add worldwide bands etc. etc.

all these things exist independently, but no one puts them in a phone together
>>
>>57011107
Because then manufacturers couldn't strongarm people into buying a new phone every 2 years in the hopes that this one won't have some crippling flaw.
>>
>>57010307
Please help, can't make up my mind. Poorfag, spend 27$ to buy new battery and get another year out of my note 3, or 150~ to get another 3 years on an unfamiliar device?
>>
>>57011193
get an OEM battery, not some third party shit
>>
There is funny event in LG.

LG's executives went top of mountain named samseong(same pronounce SAMSUNG) and ate apples.

Is Nexus 5X still worth buying?
Feels so fucking stupid for skipping for Pixel phones.
>>
Tbh I can't wait for my Pixel XL to get here
>>
My Samsung s3 is getting a bit shit nowadays, would the redmi note 3 pro be a good upgrade?

Didn't you basically just describe the pixel xl?

Minus the removable storage
>>
>>57011242
The fuck? If I had a phone with a swappable battery I'd immediately get a extended from zerolemon or Anker or depression shit.
>>
>>57011414
why voluntarily turn your phone into a note7?

Trying to pick a smartphone. I have basically no experience with them.

I've sort of narrowed it down to the S7 Edge (or possibly just an S7) versus the OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3 is about half the price of an S7.

I'm in the UK, I'm on GiffGaff, and I don't really know what features or size I want.
>>
g4 plus or nexus 5x?
custom-rom-support is rather important.
>>
>>57011457
Keep spouting memes tho. Zerolemon Hyperion and Anker are some well known brands with good reputation.
>>
>>57011242
But the anker 3rd party ones are way more reliable than buying oem ones on amazon. You're 50% likely to get some refurbished shit that has only half its battery accessible.
>>
>>57011358
Pls respond. I'm having a crisis here.
>>
Will the OP3 ever drop in price or is it stuck at $400 for good?
>>
>>57011722
If you aren't a murifag get a ZUK z2, friend.
>>
>>57011671
I'm debating the same thought. My N5 reboots by itself and I love my moms 5X. What's a reasonable used price on the 5X?

Nah
Camera is okay imo. Better than my m7 tho.
Build quality seems solid to me what are you referring to?
I'm satisfied with the battery life on Resurrection Remix. I have the smallest Gapps package available installed maybe it's bc of that. I get through one day from 06:00 to 22:00 easily with something left. Don't have a screenshot tho sry for missing proof.
