Insiders do the alpha testing, consumer versions (Home and Pro) do the beta testing, and Enterprise versions get the stable product.

I only use Windows 8.1 on my gaming PC, on my Thinkpad where I don't do any gaming I use Debian. Literally no reason to install Windows on it.
