I like my 15in from work, but I only use it because I can comfortably carry it around and it's powerful for my tasks + decent screen (1 screen 1 monitor for me).
My 13in is what I use for personal use (actually putting on my lap)

Not everyone needs computing power. Some people just want something that's easy to carry around or doesn't take up a bunch of space on their desk.

Depends on what you are using it for.
If you are just going to be writting essays/doing some programming in java/c++ then a smaller, less powerful computer will work just fine.

For my home computer? Sure, I'd buy that. I can make more space near my desk.

For a mobile computer? That idiotic. A 17″ laptop is already way too big for carrying around. I had one for a job for a while, where as a contractor I didn't get a dedicated computer or office space, but they wanted me to come in to the office regularly. So it mostly lived in my car, and I carried it in a dedicated kind of brief case between car and free cubicle.

13″ with high resolution is pretty comfy actually, it's small enough I can actually use it in my lap, and won't take up too much space on a table at a cafe or friends house or whatever.

I noticed that i'm forced to use 14" laptops, i don't care about the weight but anything smaller than 14" is too small and bigger is too bulky.

My Thinkpad T420 with three drives and upgraded CPU is the perfect machine for me, even if it weighs like 2.5kg with everything and the 9-cell battery.
