IPS screen is absolutely amazing and nobody should be making shitty TN screens anymore, and is well worth the power draw.
4:1 scaling looks nice, but takes a lot more from the gpu, and honestly I don't care for it.

You linked to a picture of an imac, so I'm guessing that you are deciding between a retina imac and non retina.
If so then I'd just go with the non retina since they already have IPS screens.

Retina is the buzzword faggots use when they refer to high DPI monitors.

High DPI is great no matter what it's called. what's not great is trying to use an application that doesn't support high-DPI on macOS or Windows. I still prefer it though.

Use a retina MBP for photo/video editing. "Retina" is just a marketing term but the screens themselves are quite nice. I wouldn't go back to my desktop to work on things anymore. Not until I buy a better monitor at least.

If you don't plan to do some sort of creative work I wouldn't suggest a mac though, really no benefit except for they look somewhat nice.

Not everything is about price you frugal fuck. What you loose in specs you gain in a coherent experience that works 100% of the time. You don't need a fucking 1440p display on a smartphone, that's absolutely insane.
