I've been thinking about making a hackintosh or maybe buying some used macbook or similar to try out Xcode, I'm mainly interested in IOS app development as a hobby.
I just wanted to know if anyone here has had experience with this and if it's worth pulling the trigger on.
Hackintosh works fine for macOS/iOS development. Just generate a unique system serial through Clover and get a brand new iCloud account through that.
I have never gotten a hackentosh to work right and I have tried to make a few
buy a used mac on ebay and if you keep it less than 3 months you will be able to sell it for what you paid for it back on ebay
if you just want to try it out

Yeah I've heard the same thing about hackintoshes just not working.
I think I'll start lurking around on ebay or some local auctions to get a cheap macbook.
I would just buy a new cheap one but holy fuck they're even more expensive than I remember.

>Hackintosh
if i were to try to do it again i would find someone with a working one and copy the setup exactly
i think you just have to get lucky with your hardware being compatible
OP here thanks for the advice anons I think I'll go the pre owned macbook route.

If you choose parts with hackintosh in mind, it's easy and works extremely well. If you try to hackintosh a random existing machine, though, the odds are against you.
