Alright, so not the original guy, but I tried this on my Mac, and it did not delete my system, but it did start going through /Applications and deleting stuff from there.

OS X protects its first party apps (because god forbid I'm allowed to delete iTunes from my computer) but it seems to have deleted some stuff, like Gimp, as well as ironically(?) gimping Google Chrome, which seems to have been deleted, but is still running in a partially broken way, seeing as I can't open new tabs correctly or download things or load most websites in the few tabs I still have open.

It didn't get as far as deleting any real user data, but I'm sure it would have gotten to all that after it was done with applications.

Moral of the story: Don't run rm -rf / on your Mac; it won't delete the system, but it will probably delete all the data you actually care about. (It probably would have worked completely if I had used sudo.)

>>
>>56976454
if you use windows you can actually use descriptive file names. its a lot faster to change directories using windows.
>>
>>56976474
So, I think it is just safe to assume that unless you are using Windows, the computer is going to do what you tell it to do. If you rm -rf / you should expect that it is going to do just that.

Great power, great responsibility. Spiderman. Yada yada.
>>
>>56976474
>(It probably would have worked completely if I had used sudo.)
No, it wouldn't have. Everything needed to boot the system and is considered by the OS to be essential is protected.

>OS X protects its first party apps
That's because apps installed through app store have admin permissions. Apps that you deleted were userland apps. You can remove iTunes just fine by using sudo. ANy developer can install system-wide apps but that requires a user to enter a password. That's why many opt for userland/per-user installation.

So basically cd means "change directory" and is useless by on its own. You need to specify a path. So like "cd /home/user/pictures" or something. Every simple concept of folders in folders. The woman in the OP looks like a total tard just typing cd cd cd over and over without giving a path.

It is a very simple concept of folders in folders and files in folders. The woman in the OP looks like a total tard just typing cd cd cd over and over without specifying which directory she wishes to change into.

>>56976722
Just fuck off whoever you are. You keep making the dummest comments I've seen all day. Just read that back to yourself and carefully look at his pic.
>>
>>56976714
So cd.. is nothing (like she does in the picture) but cd .. takes you back one directory. cd by itself should take you to your home directory. You dont have to type out and absolute path.
>>
>>56976773
cd ../../[etc]

takes you back as many directories as you need without typing cd .. over and over again.
>>
>>56976715
you got backups bro?
>>
>>56976802
NOPE
>>
>>56976773
I'm aware, but the in the pic in the OP that person isn't doing anything with that. If you're trying to get to /home and you're in /home/1/2/3/4/5 then there's no point in typing cd.. over and over. You just cd /home
>>

I mean, if you look at the commands she's inputting, it's clear that she doesn't really understand what she's doing. It seems like she just doesn't understand the structure of the filesystem.

She knows the commands and what they do
- she uses 'pwd' to show the current path
- she uses 'cd ..' to go to the parent directory
- she uses 'ls' to list all directories in the parent directory
- she uses 'cd really-long-folder-name' to go back to the same folder she was already in

And then she tries to 'cd code' again, which she should know isn't there because she was just in this directory a minute ago.

cd code
cd..

ls
cd hs-tdd-sweet-ride-bro-lab-precollege-se1-myfl-072015-1
cd code
cd ..
cd ..
>>
>>56979220
basically what the dumb bitch is doing is just changing directories

that's what the "cd" command means, "change directory"

"ls" command lists items in a directory
"cd .." goes up one directory

so basically she goes into a directory called "code" than cd's out of that directory than again and again and again

then lists all items

then cds into code again

I'm basiing this on the commands to the left because I can't read that terminal

She's just moving folders and looking at what those folders contain but because it's in a terminal everyone of those retards will think she's actually programming.

The zoomed in portion is an interactive shell on her mac. She's trying to fill it with 1337 looking hax code, but she's really just trying to change directory, and failing miserably at it.

Pretty much this:
>>56979434

But he left out how badly she's failing.

You can see in the picture there is no directory called "code" so it doesn't change into it. She also types "cd.." instead of "cd .." which is incorrect and won't do anything.

She's fucking up the most basic shell commands.

Don't get sidetracked. I'm convinced the shell window was just put there by Karlie becaue it looks "computery" to utter noobs so that she'd reap a few awed hushes from other women.
Oh, and that one "she should totally join our startup".
>>
>>56979789
no actually, I think the course she was doing is something with ruby on rails, the first thing they teach you is how to start a rails server via terminal, I'm guessing she was trying to do that
>>
>>56979458
>She's trying to fill it with 1337 looking hax code
She has a hello world string concatenation tutorial in the top window.

>>

oh fuck, didn't even see that
so she's basically doing ruby the basics

What?
And Apple has no shell script or "service start rails" for that?
That's pretty poor.

Sorry he doesn't use a black like my soul theme to prove that he's an ultimate edge lord.

I'm just reading her web page http://kodewithklossy.com/
Get this:

Oh boy.

.... and btw. "Kloss" in German is a dumpling.
>>

actually yes, I learned python using the terminal, but I find pressing f5 a lot more shiny, I use bash when its convenient, like not running a bloatware ide for c, I just dont find it all that convenient very often

im not sidetracked, Im talking about excatly what I want to be talking about, I dont even know who karlie is, is she the new queen of /b/ or something

you can't make IDLE transparent.
I can put sublime on the left and a book on the right, but when I need to test something I can put a transparent terminal over the book and still be able to read the book.

not to mention how good it is when you're doing an online course in fullscreen and just having a transparent terminal over it so you can try the commands while not looking away from the video

She's a model who uses her money earned through modelling to fund a charitable foundation that teaches young women how to code.

She's terrible because she can't navigate directories from a unix shell, world be damned.

ya but 75% time transparency is a non issue, although you are not wrong, its not really a huge issue

For sake of diversity I suspect.

I saw an advertisement for Linköpping University the other day. Linköpping, Sweden. So I thought I'd check out their web page. It sports a big picture of two muslim women, one of them in a headscarf.

So web development is """koding""" now?
Can anybody tell me why I should hire one Arab woman who's been to a summer camp in web page development when I can hire ten Pajeets with actual M.Sc's for the same price???

Most girls want to date guys who are at least as tall as they are. So if you're a woman who is over 6ft tall your dating pool is incredibly small.

Imagine being a tall, homely, woman. Might as well start collecting cats.

>>56979153

Name NOW. she seems like my dream woman. I'm also a (male) model who is a mechatronic engineer.
>>
>>
>>56986028
what kind of reasoning is that?

the dating pool isn't incredibly small for tall women, it's incredibly small for short men

if she'd rather stay alone than date a guy that is too short: chances are she already is a cat lady

Let's be real here: The IT world isn't a complete Darwinian meritocracy. All these cucked Internet nanny companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter have plenty of dough to spare on "diversification," talent or otherwise. Hence this chick is more likely to be hired by Google than some non-hipster-looking white guy who has a comp sci PhD and a sizable online codebase.
