A few of the 5 star "verified buyer" reviews look suspicious though. One of them appears to be a guy that misclicked.

I've literally never had a problem with Comcast. Most of these reviews are by retarded boomers that don't know how the internet works and blames Comcast when their email isn't working.

I got xfinity at a new place and connection kept dropping multiple times a day for few mins. I have my own modem and after examining the logs, it turns out I had too much variance in power level, causing SNR spikes and connection drops for few minutes. Replaced cable to the street, used higher quality coaxial tips fixed the power level drops and it is pretty much a constant at -6 dBmV, with no connection drops at all.

Currently paying only for 25Mbps and am perfectly content with speed, I just use pfsense box with some solid traffic shapping.

So far, the connection was rock solid for few weeks now.

Do I expect an average Joe be able to troubleshoot and fix their own network? No, that's why the rating is so low.

But /g/? C'mon guys, srsly

I don't know how Comcast works, but shouldn't you be able to cancel your Comcast service through amazon? It would be a lot easier than waiting on the phone and talking to someone.

I canceled a VPN subscription though amazon so I assume you'd be able to do the same with Comcast. Just that easy cancellation process is worth using amazon.

Remember folks, the rental modem may not be docsis 3. A docsis 3 modem may even improve the speed of a 25 mbps connection. Hit up goodwill and find one with intact connection serials or buy one outright from Walmart or best buy. You'll save money in the long run and should get better service.
