Acceptable HDD speeds?
Bought this drive refurbished 3-5 years ago.
Someone gonna post a raid NVMe?
>>56971769
Oh I dunno, something along the lines of this. Anything much less is not really acceptable.

>Posting SSD speeds
Why?
>>56972148
>what is RAID

Pick one

I'm the one who posted a pic you doofus. It's an SSD, FYI.
>>56972161
Because its cheaper
>>56972221
>Because its cheaper
Moving parts. Piss poor speeds. Yeah, no, enjoy.
>>56971769
Haven't used HDD's since like 2011, even my USB3.1 stick is faster than that, kek
>>56972212
It is RAID tho
Just raid of 2 SSDs :^)
>>56972262
I will hunt you down for ruining my chance to compare and discuss mechanical hard drive speeds.
>>56972307
Go to the retro thread for that.
>>56972307
man sorry man but really man you shouldnt expect much discussion out of neo /g/ man if you dont want to be disappointed all the time man
legitimate question;
what would be a decent amount of drives, alongside the size of them, to raid, and in which configuration should it be?
raw speed?
shit tons of size?
You gotta use the waifu edition.
>>56972507
Here's the boot drive.
>>56972596
And the backup hard drive. It has an insane amount of built in cache, which explains the relatively high random read/writes for a platter drive.
how do you guys with one drive faster than the other like to split up your data?
I have an M2 NVMe drive and a sata SSD, both 500GB, and I want all my data to be able to be seen at memespeeds
>>56972773
Application installs on the faster drive. Large files(videos/music/pictures) on the slower drive.
>>56972827
What if I lost my 4GB of music i used to have, my 80GB of videos I had, and just save 4Mb shitposts?
My new games are fucking 50GB each but shouldn't those be on the fast drive for fast access?
is this true
Will SSDs change my life or fuck my wife?

>>56972484
this is like asking how much ram you need
it depends on what you do with it
>>56972929
Maybe he's asking if raid is better for certain size hard drives or something, maybe it can use the bigger cache or something
I have no idea about raid or anything I just came in this thread

I have a single 1TB 7200RPM drive for everything, and moved a bunch of shit over to 2x 1TB externals, based on what they're used for. One is college work, which is used more than the other because VM's, lots of .bat/scripts, and other shit. The other is used for storing my Steam shit and other games.
I'd mostly want better speeds, but the storage of a mechanical drive for my internal, rather than needing to store my Steam shit on my external, as it's recently been fucking up and I'm worried about losing the games that aren't cloud-saved
>>56973017
>>56972773
I see
>raw speed?
SSDs make RAID obsolete in terms of raw speed.
>shit tons of size
RAID0
>slightly less size but less prone to failure
RAID6
>not using 2 RAM disks in raid0
LOL poorfags
>>56973095
You cant hotswap raid drives (you cant raid over usb anyway afaik) so dont worry about it
>>56973216
U can...
>>56973216
I was wanting to move games over to either my current, setup a RAID with another couple of internals for a bit more speed, or end up saying "fuck it" and going for a single larger drive for it in the long run
>>56972221
>because its cheaper
Go away 3rd world scum.
>>56973243
that's fucking hilarious
