really made me think!
It's much faster, uses less power, and emits less heat, and the differences are so significant that you actually feel them when you turn on your computer
Get a brain you fuck

Before, I had to wait up to 15 minutes before I could properly do something (like using firefox) on my computer, after starting it.
Now it start in less than 10 seconds, and when I need a grand total of 20 seconds to be able to do anything on my computer.
Plus, my system is not on the same HD than my data now.
>>56971210
There's a noticeable difference.

Is this some kind of sour grapes thing?
Actually sour grapes but they really want it to not hurt them emotionally so they """""""ironically"""""""

>>56971447
while i use exclusively ssds other than for my home server, this example sucks. even running windows 8.1, it shouldnt take more than 3-4 minutes for a (modern) computer to boot. you must have had an old ass system or failing hdd
>>56971210
Anything NEETs can't afford with GBP is a meme.
>>56971210
They are smaller, a lot less fragile, consume a lot less energy, aren't as noisy, a lot faster and now they aren't that expensive anymore.
All that, and how scared I got when GTAIV loaded in just 4 seconds last week, it used to take 3 minutes when it came out.
OP they are a meme until they are cheaper. I'm not spending $50 for 120GB , that barely holds anything.
>>56971210
They were a meme until maybe 4 years ago
Nowadays spindle drives are only bought for huge raid arrays
es es de is faster than your platters.
>>56971932
you're retarded. that's why you use HDDs for actual storage and just use the SSD for storing OS and programs.
>>56971210
Using a box without a OS SSD is like using a 10yo computer even if it's got a better cpu than mine.
120gb ssds are so cheap now there's no reason not to have a OS ssd.
>>56971447
>15 minutes
What sort of potato were you using? Even the 5400 rpm hdd in my old laptop was only 15-25 seconds to boot after pushing the power button.
>>56971210
Go away """"Henry""""
>>56973297
So theres no point in having an ssd since you still need an HDD for storage, gotcha
>>56971210
NO!
GTFO!
SAGE, REPORTED AND HIDE!
>>56973653
You are beyond retarded. You use the SSD for data that benefits from being on an SSD, such as your OS and programs. You use HDDs for general storage where it doesn't matter what type of device it's on, like music, videos, and backups.
HDD

10/10 time properly managed
SSD

Congrats OP, everyone here fell for this bait.
Not using sage, you deserve it my dude.
>>56973433
I never know if the people who say their computer takes minutes to boot up are memeing or not. How is that even possible? I have 8-9 year old desktop with some entry level 5400rpm WD drive that takes less than a minute. The only thing I can think of is they have massively bloated Windows installs with literally 100s of shit running at start up and they're counting the time it takes for it to be usable.

I'm gonna orgasm so hard once 4TB SSD's become commonplace

Hmmm, makes no difference m8.
>>56971210
I only notice the speed difference on boot or when coping large files from a flash drive or something. For small stuff it doesn't make a difference. If you have the money they're nice, but if you're on a budget you should upgrade other parts of your PC first like RAM or CPU.

Lulz onlly 10000tb hddds
I built a new machine a few days ago and finally went with my first ever SSD and it is definitely not a meme.
Windows is fully booted before the screen turns on, chrome opens instantly and even bloated shit like PowerShell ISE with every fucking module loads as soon as clicked.
I'll never use a non-ssd drive for my system ever again.
