Do you use an SSH client? Or are you just so goddamned leet that you use the terminal?
I was using Bitvise on Windows and now I'd like to find a good alternative now that I'm "doing Linux".
Otherwise, SSH thread.
Cathode for iPhone
just works etc
OpenSSH is my ssh client. Or mosh when my connection isn't stable.
>Bitvise
something wrong with putty?
What is ssh good for,is it just a remote cli?
I use ssh when I want to ssh.

Kitty is superior to putty. It's a fork that gets updates.
>>56969200
>updates = better
You would really like Arch Linux.
>>56969171
Can also do file transfer or connection tunneling.
>>56969171
sure, you can also forward things over it, like your internet connection (SOCKS proxy) or X11 (you can open graphical applications remotely too)

arch user here
on windows at work i use kitty
i use nc to connect and type out keys / handshake commands by memory
Even on Windows I just use ssh under Cygwin.
Learn to .ssh/config to improve your ssh experience.

Judicious use of the host file, ssh keys, ssh-agent, and predefined profiles make opening a session in the terminal just as easy as opening one in a client.
Also juicessh for android
>>56969075
I use Moba at work because I can't be assed to install both FileZilla and PuTTy
>>56969075
putty to remote from Windows, otherwise just OpenSSH client (a.k.a. "the terminal")
>>56969075
>open terminal
>ssh hostname
Use the ssh config file.
i use mosh most of the time
Connectbot on android. Use my terminal on everything else.
Connectbot kinda sucks but JuiceSSH is nonfree so...
scp is also the most usefull thing ever. Great for copying stuff to my NAS / seedbox.

You can use SSH from termux
I use what's shipped with the distro.
>>56969322
Look up rsync, it can compress automatically before sending and can do delta transfers, only sending the stuff that's changed

/thread
putty
OpenSSH
isn't this the standard?
>>56969075
Prompt on iOS, PuTTY on Windows and any old terminal under OSX and Linux.
>>56969075
MATE Terminal on my laptop using OpenSSH, Termux on my Android phone. In both of them I just type "ssh name@address" to connect.
ssh
scp
rsync
Never needed anything else.

kys
>>56969218
>updates = worse
You would really like Windows 7/8/10.
>>56969247
Are you me?
>>56970836
B-but windows gets updates frequently, anon.
>>56969339
THICC
>>56969339
any term emulator works. Use it all the time when I'm on the couch to control the media. Fdroid got a handful of them. What you got to watch out for is your ssh config.
>>56969075
>SSH client?
MY OS comes with native OpenSSH support
openssh on nix. alternatively on windows i use openssh through MSYS2. I used to use putty but it turned out to be unnecessary after i got MSYS2/MinGW openssh
>>56970727
>scp
>rsync
What am I missing out on if I only use rsync?
oh and on android i use juicessh
>>56969245
>this fucking guy
>>56969200
isn't putty just kitty with integration into other programs?
>>56972294
scp is just easier
rsync is more for backups or updates to file trees.
