802.11ah when?
Why would you even want that? So that your neighbors can steal your internet?
>>56960155
Came here to ask that
>>56960133
looks like you just need to put your router on the second floor and use 2.4Ghz
or stop trying to use wifi on the roof.
>>56960190
So you can steal your neighbors wifi?
>>56960133
Anyone else have a router that gives off two SSIDs, one for 56hz and one for 2.4? fucking awesome. Everything far away i connect to 2.4 and everything close is 5ghz. best part is i didnt even have to set it up
>>56960217
56Hz, if you had a router that could transmit at 56 Hz, you'd br able to get a signal anywhere on earth.
But the bandwidth would be piss poor.
>>56960196
>stop trying to use wifi on the roof.
Don't tell me what to do!
>>56960249
>56Hz
packet radio bois
>>56960249
Look at it this way, now you can send spam to subs if you made a ground antenna for your router.
Shit never realized ac had such a small range, no wonder wifi repeaters are growing in popularity. I'm still using an old b/g/n router and I don't see the point in upgrading right now.
Maybe when it becomes mandatory to use ipv6 since this router doesn't support it.
>>56960320
>born too late to enjoy usenet and bbs
>but can enjoy packet radio darknets and piracy networks
>>56960357
I really want to make my own packet radio system, but the gear is going to cost a fucktonne and no one will use it
>>56960133
>900MHz
So...It would interfere with GSM?
>not hardwiring every room in the house with gigabit ethernet.
pfSense + xclaim xi-3 like a boss
>>56960133
>citation needed
I live in a city where houses are spaced a fair distance apart, if I scan for wifi right now I can pickup several access points. N was a mistake. Making anything with a farther range is just pants on head retarded.
Granted there are a few people who could use it, but not every house should be, or even have the right to, broadcast signal for that distance.
>>56960249
you'd need an antenna about twenty meters long
>>56960724
>tfw pajeet hacks you with kali on a regular basis and theres nothing you can do about it
>>56960265
jesus why would someone go through the trouble of photographing that for stock image use?
>>56960528
This.
>>56960155
Some people can actually afford large homes and don't want to rent/buy 5 additional routers just to get full coverage in their homes.
>>56960249
yeah but your average client would not be able to reach back to you
>>56961474
If you can afford the large home you can afford the 5 wifi extenders, faggot.
>>56960265
In what fucking tcontext would someone ever use this image toplmao
>>56961537
>5 wifi extenders
They halve your bandwidth and they're a pain in the ass most of the time, I used one before and had bad results. The best results I had was when I just bought another router. Wifi extenders are a meme.
>>56960724
confirmed for clueless about antenna theory
>>56960526
This.
Is most parts of the world, 900Mhz is the most popular LTE band.
802.11ah is intended as a low-power, long range alternative to Bluetooth LE, the maximum bandwidth is only 234Mbit/s, it's for IoT devices, not full sized devices or even phones.
>>56961596
At that frequency, aren't you supposed to use the earth itself as an antenna?
>>56960724
No my friend, you'd need an antenna many kilometers long!(To transmit)
>>56961587
Powerline adapters m8
>>56961537
My home isn't particularly big, but the Fiber box is in the garage, 20m, and 4 walls, away from the main living area. I have ethernet ports in most rooms, but I'd rather not have routers taking up a port and power point.
i just wanna download anime i don't fucking care about this dumb "le invisible waves and frequencies in the air" meme
>>56960567
I actually own the xi-3 but feel kinda disappointed at its lack of features/configurability. At least it gets updates from ruckus, which can't really be said for any of the other consumer access points
