Pic fucking related. Which one of you morons did I just turn away today? Be honest. I could fucking tell the whole time I sat there this kid was a /g/tard. I nearly meme'd at him a few times just to see what he would do, but I didn't want to make him cry. Poor bastard was so nervous.

I really would like to give you faggots jobs but if you don't use the standard tools and devote time to industry standard languages what the hell good are you? Face it NEETs, the world doesn't need a million C programmers.

basically every competent programmer prefers vim or emacs over a clunky ide. you're probably a freshman in java 101. kys.

Epic company you ""work"" for, I would give a straight no and convince my fellow board not to hire you under any circumstances.

What does it mean?
>>
>>56961529
in C, when you declare a variable it sets aside a space in memory for it. The computers ram, has ofcourse been used before at some point.
If you dont set the memory to something before you call the variable it will read whatever the memory was last set to.
So if you type:
int x;
printf("%i", x);
god only knows what you might get. It could be anything from −32767 to 32767.
If you call it as something else, it will print some other random bullshit.
>>
>>56961231
>you noticed the code is bad
that's the point you dip
>>
>>56961529
>>56961579
I should also say that variables loop around, so if you do:
int x=32767;
x++;
printf(%i",x);
you should get "-32767"

Its been a while since Ive coded anything, years, so dont take everything I said as textbook fact. There is a variable whose range is something like 214767.......... but I cant seem to remember what It was.
>>
>>56961579
I know how computers work. I was pointing out how weakly defined c is.
>>
>>56961622
Then maybe don't ask what something means immediately after quoting a word.
>>
>>56959492
hope you have a bit of guilt the time you hear one of those "freetards" kill themselves
>>
>>56961613
Mostly correct. It would overflow to -32768, in a 16 bit integer. Also the word size is implementation dependant.
>>
>>56961718
>Mostly correct.
eh, good enough. Overflowing variables isnt exactly a hobby of mine.
>>
>>56961613
>>56961718
Also signed integer overflow is undefined behavior in C.
>>
>>56961889
idk, seems pretty well defined to me. It just rolls over.
>>
>>56962179
On most systems it will, but it's undefined in the C standard.
>>
>>56964005
If nobody happened to write down that the sky appears blue, would we all insist that though the color of the sky appears blue to most users it still technically appears undefined?
>>
>>56964087
Uh, what?
The sky is a physical thing with it's own existence that people describe. The properties of the sky are uninfluenced by whether people write down that it's blue or green.
C is fundamentally an agreed-upon specification. If the C spec said that adding 2 and 2 should return the integer 5, then all the C compliers which treat 2+2 as equalling 4 would simply be wrong.
>>
>>56964087
no but we wouldn't write a program that relied on the sky being blue just to watch it fail when we happen to run it at sunset.
>>
>>56961622
>weakly defined
>In mathematics, forall x: x / 0 is undefined
>Mathematics is weakly defined
Undefined behaviour is not weakly defined. "Undefined" is its definition.
The real shit comes in when you're talking about implementation defined.

hey OP it was me at the interview
i also saw that you lurk the 4chans, i left a note under your desk with a secret message
ill let everybody know what i wrote down
it says:

"OP is a huge faggot kys"
>>
>>56964087
It's undefined because the representation of signed integers can differ between systems. It can be one's complement or two's complement. Thus the C standard doesn't define it. It isn't trivial.
>>
What do you guys think about mentioning unprofessional work when asked for what you have made outside of the classroom?
For example, imagine you make a porn smartphone app for some sick fetish website and you get some serious programming experience from this, should you mention it?
Or if you make something for a complete niche, or something "immoral" that just allows you to cheat on websites or games or whatever, but you still wrote thousands of lines of codes for those projects.
>>
>>56964178
There's no point because nobody uses signed integer overflow this way (not just because its not defined). Unsigned integer wrap-around is the only useful kind and that is defined.

For java it's really lame (and potentially unusable in some cases), but for C, it's totally okay and potentially more productive than say eclipse or net-bins.
