I do some tech work for my company. Random stuff people bring in (laptops, towers, phones, electronics, etc.) and I fix them for people. Been doing it for around 22 years or so.
When people pick up their stuff, why can't they just say: "Thanks for fixing my laptop!" and then pay me, instead of: "So, what did you find?"
Well, I usually don't know how people fucked their shit up. I don't know where they downloaded the virus. I have no idea why the computer was missing boot information, all I know is that I run bcdboot c:\windows /s c: and it wrote the files and the computer booted. I have ZERO CLUE WHY YOUR iPHONE IS STUCK ON THE APPLE LOGO. All I know is that I fucking put it in recovery mode and did the software update to iTunes AND IT'S FIXED. I'm not psychic.
Does anyone have any good resources or advice on how to deal with this? The older I get, the more irritable and jaded I'm becoming. Maybe I can start printing pamphlets to give them or something?

Ignore them. The other day I had someone ask me why their phone wouldn't turn on, like fuck if I know, your shits bricked
When people ask me I give them a rough idea of what I thought the problem was and normally by the time I'm finished that they never want to see me again and leave

That's pretty much what I do as it is, but it takes time and energy I simply don't have any longer.
I'm just going to play dumb from now on I think.
So that they have a clue about fixing the computah themselve next time?

>Customer brings in computer that won't boot.
>Remove virus. Computer boots.
>"Ready for pickup!"
>Customer walks in.
>"So anon, what did you find?"
>Well, I had to take out a memory module and force it into a PCI-E slot, turn it on, then take it back out and put it back. It cleared the static from the motherboard. That did the trick!
>Satisfied, customer brings computer home.
Later....
>Downloads another virus.
>"Argh it won't boot again. Let me do what anon did..."
>??
>Profit!
