This right here. You can browse them on your PC as well, but all music files will have random sounding names. There is software that can restore the names by reading the iPod's database, used that to recover a friend's music database once

I had never heard of it before this thread. I used to tag the shit out of my mp3s, so browsing them using a program will be fairly easy, and my music player on the Android tablet read all of the tags automatically. Good stuff.
