This is a stupid ass question, is the only way to get the delete key on an hhkb pro 2 to function as backspace and delete with function if the dip switch is off? When it's on, it's fn delete for backspace, but when it's off it just functions as backspace. I figureed one mode would have fn delete as delete, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Is there a 3rd party progam i can use to bind keys with the hhk pro 2? I'd really like to be able to use fn+delete as "DEL" and use the key normally as backspace.

Can anyone recommend a Cherry keyboard to a nablet?

I don't have any particular preferences or budget constraints, although I would like a "full" keyboard (with a numpad) if possible. Backlight would actually be nice as well since I live on the dark side of the house and it gets 2spooky even with two desk lamps and a ceiling light on at night.

Alps tried that to but they just were not profitable ans sold of their mechanical switches to fukka. LEDs arent the worst issue, you can always turn them off when one breaks. The bigger problem is the nonstandard bottom layout means you will have a bad time replacing the poor quality stock keycaps.

Return it while you still can. The lux adressed the LED problem, but the layout isnt the best thing there is. Espicially when you want to get high quality PBT keycaps you'll find that it will be difficult finding a compatible set

I have the Cherry MX Green MagicForce. My only complaint is that you can't use modifiers in conjunction with the FN key, so, for example, if you use Linux and you use Ctrl + Alt + F2 to access terminal, you won't be able to do that on the MagicForce
It's a minor nuisance though. Work around is simple enough.

It's a good solid keyboard and a great value for the money.
You should definitely replace the keycaps.

Downright godawful. Industrial printers that cost more than a house are capable of 0.1mm resolution, but that's still not very good for keycaps. Get out a micrometer and see for yourself.

Eventually you'll get used to it, but it sounds like you should have gone for black switches. Rubber domes have an actuation force of around ~80g. Cherry reds have half of that. Blacks are a bit heavier at 60g. Linear greys are even heavier at 80g of force similar to rubber domes. There are also tactile and clicky switches but if you like linear switches then check some of these out just fill the filters at the top and buy what you want:

I dunno, don't want to buy another keyboard right now. I like that I'm able to press keys faster but right now I keep making mistakes while typing all the time and press shit when resting my fingers. I guess I'll get used to it.

I have no fucking idea why they sent me a british version though, I live in the yuropean shithole of Grease and bought it from a local seller. I guess that's a minor problem so whatever.

Also, the wrist rest on this thing feels fucking amazing. Feels soft and smooth but it's hard, don't know how to describe it.

It's decent, the board itself is functional with no flashy extras or anything. Just how I like it. The keycaps are to your tastes and are UV coated ABS. But WASD do have a PBT option, it's just not customisable

I spilled coffee in my keyboard this morning, what do I do??

I took the caps off and cleaned them w/ sanitation wipes, did the same w/ the keyboard but made sure not to touch the switches. I wiped over and depressed the switches w/ a wet cloth, but some of the keys still sound softer than others. It's and MX Blue.

Does anyone have the van 40% board kit?

Yes they are PBT, and they feel pretty nice and thick.

The packaging was awful, it was a flimsy box wrapped a billion times in tape, and the keycaps were in a loose plastic bag surrounded by a little bubble wrap.

It got here though and it was about $20ish

Solid construction, and the Cherry blue clones are nice and crisp.

The only con is that the keycaps are flimsy with pad printed lettering, which makes it prone to fading. I got the board for way cheap, looking to find some decent MX replacement caps

Also, I use qwes for movement not wasd. That's why I mentioned these keys.

I don't think this is the wrong switch for me though, I like the feel when I press them. Just wish I didn't accidentally do it, it kinda makes me feel like I'm not really in control and it annoys me.

Reds are comfy as fuck.
And it took me like 2 months for it to never happen again. You get used to how much it takes to actuate the switch.

I can type 110WPM on average. Cherry MX blue, qwerty layout. Is there anything I can do to make myself type faster? I started at around 70WPM at the beginning of this past summer, but my improvement has totally plateaued and I want to see more of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you use the touchtyping pose? Try to not restrict your hands to only that position, use it and then expand your technique by allowing movement in the wrists. Sometimes for certain words it's faster to let the left hand do some of the right hand letters and vice versa. Stewardesse.

Then there aren't a lot of options. Das Keyboard will get you there. The only trouble is what you get for the price, which is typically a little higher than your budget. They used to have respectable build quality, but they switched to a shit tier manufacturer and kept the prices the same.

Cherry tactile switches are pretty underwhelming. I wish they would come up with a better design. All the good switches had their patents expire, so I wonder why cherry wont take some inspiration from them and give us proper tactile feedback

I just said fuck it and got a KBP V80 with Matias switches. Only buckling springs have better tactility than Alps and you can't get those in 80% with NKRO without spending a fortune on one of those custom Model Fs with weird cases/layouts.

This is my advice. Although not all ABS caps are so bad. I kept the ABS caps on my Magicforce 68 because they're quieter and feel like PBT in texture (not in thickness though). However the ABS caps I've gotten with Cooler Master boards have pretty consistently felt like shit.

The tactility of MX browns is really meh and just isn't distinct enough to help you feel the actuation point like it's supposed to.

Instead of going for a "middle ground," if you don't want blues because they make high pitched clicking noises, you may as well just get linear switches like reds because they'll feel nicer to type on. You could also try clears. They have heavier springs requiring more force to push and the tactility is stronger than on browns, though still not great.

That or get an entirely different type of switch that actually is tactile, like Alps or buckling springs.

Thing is no matter what they say about cherry reds, there isn't actually a "gaming" switch and it's all preference.
Do you want the switch to click when it actuates, or stay quiet?
(non-clicky switches will still go thock if you bottom them out though)
Do you want tactile feedback when the switch actuates before it bottoms out?
Are you a light or heavy typer?
(by way of comparison, if you're used to rubber domes they're much heavier than light switches like cherry reds)

So I have a two part question for you gents-
preface- I'm building out a keyboard, 60% with a GH60. I have the keyswitches already, board should be here shortly, and then the plate whenever the fuck china and usps decide to give me my shit.

I just read on some forum that plate mount switches would require me to desolder every switch to swap a switch out if it's defective- that sounds odd, because I was under the impression that the plate sits between the switch and the PCB so to speak. If this were the case I should just be able to desolder the single switch means it goes in over the plate, correct?

Secondly, reading up on plate mount and pcb mount, I've read multiple places that the "disadvantage" of PCB mount is that it's required to solder the switches, which implies that if you go the PCB mount route you don't need to solder the switches in place, is this true? if so that sounds very prone to errors...
