By making money with adware injection. :(
They have juicy contracts with microsoft, dell computers and hp servers.

its ok but i would love to have free L_alt by default and fixed icons in global menu. Somehow they only work for qt (VLC, Krita) apps, and none gtk apps like libreoffice/gimp/inkscape.

Adware injection (like on windows 10) was true but easy to disable.
Yes canonical, the society behind ubuntu, made a lot of contracts with hp, dell, azure and amazon. Nothing bad here.
>>
>>56951580
Even linus torvarld made contracts with microsoft and google.

We all know about it except you, dumb fuck. Also the DE of Ubuntu ugly with big icons and glassy design. It's also proprietary software unlike every single other commonly used DE on Linux. Get an unofficial Ubuntu distribution.

It's one of the best GNU/Linux distros in my opinion, easy to configure, rice, install programs and it's one of the best systems if you just want to surf the web, watch mongolian cartoons and program in any language.

Ubuntu 16.04.1 is pretty much stable right now, no Amazon bullshit hijacking your searches or anything like that.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Or

Ubuntu software center or synaptic package manager or etc etc

Yes but some anon recommended me a tool that installs .debs or whatever the fuck Linux uses when you download an application online, it was pretty useful.
>>
After the distro-hopping phase in my life I have come to the conclusion that Ubuntu works for me best. I like that it has more up to date packages in the repository than Debian testing, I like the idea of snaps, I like that it works out of the box and I don't have to spend much time maintaining it like with gentoo. Autists and special snowflakes tell me that I'm a noob but I don't give a fuck and concentrate on using the OS for the things I need to do and not for bragging right. I don't give a fuck about botnets anymore since I don't really trust any computer system anymore. Ubuntu is the most complete, polished and usable unix-like OS available.

Huge fan of using I3 with Ubuntu.
Honestly I don't regret switching from Manjaro because this gets the job done so well

Kek.

That's distro specific. On pretty direct Debian derivatives like Ubuntu, they are .deb, yes.

> when you download an application online
When you have a .deb file? You also install that using apt. Or am I missing some particular feature you're thinking of?

Well, usually you have apt handle the download as well, rather than hunt for downloads online like a Windows-based madman.
>>
>>56948151
That's not xubuntu.

>>56956979
True, true. It's not hard to do though, so when I used Ubuntu for a short while I did it like that for Chrome.

>>
>>56948151
This thread again you fucking pinhead? This distro is shitty. Fuck you and *buntu!
>>
>>56956270
Ubuntu actually doesn't have a botnet now, it was just the amazon shit and you could have disable it before and now it's by default

Also ignore the fags, Ubuntu is really widely used along with Debian and Fedora and probably OpenSUSE on lots of shit like servers and sometimes (a modified version of these) for high performance computing

There is nothing wrong to use Ubuntu but /g/ just likes to learn (hence the Install Gentoo) and to rice their shit

But hey, Arch is easy to install but you need to learn some programming to maintain it
>>56956305
Nice

Ubuntu has as many WM and DE as Arch or Manjaro
>>
>>56957088
Ubuntu is fine too agreed.

>>56957106
I have used both or use both off and on it depends. Manjaro just works where Ubuntu now gives me headaches more often than not.
