I disagree. apple and samsung never have to go those lengths because they have the sense to design a phone that fits snugly around the screen rather than creating a horribly misproportioned abomination that looks like its screen was put there in photoshop

The iPhone SE/5 have a non-standard aspect ratio. And Samsung has the edge screens. But yeah, either way, you're right Google sucks at hardware design right now. Hopefully they get it right next year
