Are there any chromebook size laptops that are around $200? Also how good are chromebooks in general?

Chromebooks are okay if you use your PC for mostly web browsing. What I personally like about my Chromebook is the high battery life, how seamless updates are compared to windows, the trackpad gesture support on chrome browser, and how stable it is compared to a lot of Linux distros I tried.

It's really nice as a lightweight secondary computer if you already have a desktop PC. I recommend squeezing $100 if you can afford it and get the Acer Chromebook 14.

They are shit.

Is google docs like MS word?

Yeah almost exactly. It's pretty nice, plenty of people use it as their only word processor and have no problems.

ChromeOS is terrible.

Get a model with an Intel processor, you can erase ChromeOS and install GNU/Linux, then run real applications like Microsoft Office (in Wine), Firefox and VLC.

You mean 10 inch through 15.6 inch?
Sure. What a fucking stupid thread.

Bought an ASUS C200 at BBy in August for 140+tax. Best 140 ive ever spent. Regularly and repeatedly gets >12 hours of battery life. Can handle 20 tabs or less while browsing which is sufficient for me. Passively cooled with an intel processor. Fullsize HDMI output, AND it's getting the google play store update sometime this year, then I'll slap Kodi on there and be all good.

You can try Google Docs online using a Google account. I have been using Google Docs for school since 2011 because I didn't have MS Word.

The only good Chromebook in the $200 range is the HP Chromebook 11 (G1 specifically. any other generation is a few steps down.)

I use my Chromebook for document writing and web browsing at uni. I have my desktop at home for actual work.
