I would like to go through my picture collection and move all images with a vertical resolution of less than 1080 to a different folder.
I figure I can use find to create a list of file names and then move them.

Problem is I don't know how to get find to do this.
Ideas?

It really doesn't matter much. ICANN was handling everything anyway, the US just technically had oversight. It wasn't really helping anything and the agency in charge didn't want that responsibility anyway. It's just kind of the way things had worked out as the internet developed, and dropping that layer of US oversight makes a lot of other countries feel better, like the US doesn't have the unfair advantage of being the one country in the world with that influence. It's still all managed inside the united states, and is subject to a lot of other US laws, but it makes us look better this way. It wouldn't have been made into such a big deal, but current republicans like to call any kind of change they didn't start evil and make talking points out of it. Since nobody really understands what this is all about, that wasn't a hard sell.

How exactly do any other nations have power over ICANN now? If they want to try and get a court order for something, that still has to happen in US courts.

The only thing that changed is that the US govt now has to do the same thing - follow due process instead of just directly ordering ICANN around.

I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

I am practicing my coding in C# and am working on code that recursively calls itself to get the smallest number of an array.

I am wondering how do I recursively call this function while passing through ridVal with -1 array slots. Whenever I try to add somthing like

riddle(ridVal[ridVal.length -1]);
I get an argument error cannot convert from int to int[]. Is there something im missing here?

How do I pass a shorter version of ridVal through?

The party hats are for 4chan's birthday.

They are on all browsers because they are gifs. You can block them by blocking:

https://s.4cdn.org/image/partyhat.gif

In Ublock Origin this is done under "My filters". They go away on their own tomorrow. On mobile you can change the time to make them go away early. Chill the fuck out.

There are people who take the time to make decent, detailed, well thought out posts which are on-topic and high quality who deserve answers more than "wut is best grafix card 4 $200", which in most cases is a subjective answer.

My questions is a simple yes or no answer, based in fact and not opinion.

You need to be 18+ to post on this board, so I suggest you start acting like it.

Need a new laptop. Needs good screen for photo editing, and powerful enough for monte carlo simulations and data analysis. Not tied to a particular OS, but will probably dual boot mint in addition to either windows or osx. A decent graphics card would be nice too.
>>
>>56877390
Yes, it is. Using an antenna, special amplifier, and monitor you can reconstruct the image being displayed on a CRT from outside a building.

Similar things are theoretically possible (but I haven't seen them demonstrated) extracting info from electromagnetic emissions from more modern equipment. Signals from modern things are far weaker and faster than CRT emissions.

Then there's this: https://www.tau.ac.il/~tromer/acoustic/ -- recovering a GPG encryption key through audio emissions from a laptop.

Don't do this. Every 1080p device can play a 720p video just fine. It's a transcode, so some quality will be lost. You can't add quality by upscaling, unless perhaps if you're running anime through waifu2x frame by frame. And you'll just make a larger file because you're encoding more pixels even though it doesn't contain any more detail than the original.

Question about fan profiles.

I have a Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980ti, this card constantly tries to use as little fan as possible to stay quiet, even going 0% fan during idle (causing a 50-55C idle temp)

Is there a way to apply its fan profile to my card permanently?

I wanted to donate some money though an international card, to some organization. But, at the donation screen, they requested my completed address. I cancelled the procedure, and e-mailed them, to know if this information is really needed.

The reply was that this request is for my safety, to ensure the card is used by the real owner, and thus prevent that robbers steal my money if my card is stolen. They said it's a "industry best practice", and that they will not share this information with anyone, and their system is secure.

OK. Is this information really needed? I hate to give personal information when it's not needed!!!

idk about the international card stuff, but I'm always very careful about giving my address or phone number to anyone who wants donations. My parents have gotten on far too many lists over the years, and last I checked currently receive literally dozens of unwanted phone calls a day from telemarketers hired by charities. They receive plenty of junk mail as well.

I will not donate money to an organization unless I can do it anonymously, or at least prevent the organization from knowing who I am. Otherwise they will not stop until they have spent every penny I gave them and more on begging for more money.

>last I checked currently receive literally dozens of unwanted phone calls a day from telemarketers hired by charities
This bothers me, I needed to be gross with calling organizations (not charities) for them to stop calling, my mother is too soft, and give too much attention and information to them. And needed to block some numbers on the cellphone.

But this is not a problem on this case, they don't ask the telephone number on the form, and I'm on another country anyways, would be expensive to call me. They ask the e-mail, though.
>>
>>56878864
USB batteries? I've had excellent luck with an Anker 8400 mAh one. It provides 2 USB ports offering 1 and 2 amps, and has an integrated flashlight. It holds enough to fully charge my shitty older Android phone 3-4 times. Newer more power hungry phones can use it up in 1 or 2 charges. It only turns on its voltage converter circuit when you push the button to start it working, and will stay fully charged on a shelf for over a month.

Avoid "Xtreme Power Bank". I got one of these for cheap. It holds about enough for HALF a charge of my shitty old phone. It also doesn't turn off fully and drains itself slowly just sitting there. So if I charge it today and use it tomorrow, it's already about half empty.

They do require info to sign up, but they don't send you much shit, the spam they do send can be opted out of easily, and they don't sell your info.

I'm not sure what all the people you're giving money to want with the info. Especially since it's an international thing they might need it for tax and reporting purposes, and to make sure they aren't accepting donations from terrorist organizations. Though it's also quite believable that they could want it to sell to raise a bit more money or to beg you endlessly for more.

Technically unsigned int and size_t are not necessarily the same size. The grading robot could be doing some odd stuff that relies on the correct object size.

Does the program work on your local machine? Also, what happens when you explicitly cast a as a size_t, i.e.

size_t b = (size_t) a;

I have a Samsung S5 that I kept at 4.4.4 kitkat up until recently. The S5 on 4.4 could stream videos with a bitrate of 15Mbps just fine. I could see my phone was uploading at about 5MB/sec. This was all with 4.4.4 kitkat. Then when I upgraded to CM13 and Marshmallow I cannot stream a video anywhere near that bitrate smoothly. Even a 2Mbps video will stutter constantly.

I'd suggest Mint or Ubuntu MATE. They've got a GUI installer, use MATE, and are n00b friendly. They do come with preinstalled stuff, that way you don't spend the next 6 hours hunting down and compiling drivers for your hardware.

You can just uninstall packages you don't want. This ain't Windows. Installing and removing programs doesn't build up cruft and slow your system down.

Try what you did and then log out. The commands you just ran are probably now in .bash_history. Old commands are wiped out though, leaving evidence of your wiping them, and erasing potentially useful uparrow history items.

kill -9 `ps | grep bash | head -n 1 | cut -d\ -f 1`

That should kill -9 your bash shell. It's a dopey way to nuke the current session from history without wiping out all of history.

Thanks for you help.

Buy a projector that isn't a toy and you can see it fine during the day. Just don't shine direct sunlight on the screen and it'll be fine.

I have one router of this model. Its Wi-Fi connection never worked properly, so I removed it's antenna. Is this enough to not worry about someone getting access to my network through Wi-Fi, or the signal can still be caught from a significant distance without the antenna?
>>
>>56880204
What are you trying, and what happens? Are you sure the thing you're pointing it at is a valid SOCKS5 proxy?

>>56880286
That picture is not NSFW. Tits covered, ass covered. This is reasonable attire to go to the beach in and not be arrested for indecent exposure.

>>56880303
Depends what you're doing with it. Say you want 2 OSes, you need partitions. Or maybe you want to be able to wipe and reinstall your OS and programs but not lose your media.

>>56880313
Signals can often still be received with no antenna. Disable wifi if you don't want to use it. If course if it flat out doesn't work, what's the worry?
>>
>>56880379
>This is reasonable attire to go to the beach
Is it reasonable to go to the work? Please, not beach-work or prostitution...
>>
>>56879807
I played around with it a little, it was your constructor. If you have the constructor doing something like printing something the class works fine, but it fails to build if it's left empty without anything to do. So to sum it up, the problem is fixed if either you make the constructor do something, or just get rid of it and let the compiler do the work
>>
>>56880379
>Signals can often still be received with no antenna.
This is what worries me.

>Disable wifi if you don't want to use it.
I don't remember if I disabled, but what if disabling does not works properly too?

>If course if it flat out doesn't work, what's the worry?
Flat?
The worry is that I didn't say "it never worked", I said "it never worked properly", meaning it worked sometimes, and sometimes it was impossible to use. If it becomes functional again, someone could enter my network!
>>
>>56880419
>I don't remember if I disabled
Can you see its SSID listed? Then it's enabled. Check the config interface too.

>but what if disabling does not works properly too?
Then you'll see its SSID listed. If it won't let you disable it, just set it to WEP2 with some absurdly long random password.
>>
>>56880448
>Can you see its SSID listed?
Both my routers use the same "Network Name".

>but what if disabling does not works properly too?
>Then you'll see its SSID listed.
Nope, I mean, some weeks working, and sometimes not working, randomly.

>just set it to WEP2 with some absurdly long random password
WEP2 is obsolete, there is already WPA2.

You don't need to reboot, simply use a normal cabled headphone.

Yeah, that kind works fine. It's the modern Bluetooth kind I'm trying to use though. Get away from the ancient 3.5mm jack like the phone threads keep saying.

No, really, I bought a little Bluetooth-to-3.5mm adapter for use as a wireless aux cable, and I'm trying to test its audio quality.

So far so weird. This is supposed to be a straight horizontal line. It still sounds fine though, it just has a strange not not very audible "warmup" period where it plays at a slightly wrong frequency.
>>
>>56880779
Why couldn't you just kept using cables? There is nothing wrong with this. Stop watching propaganda/advertising/customised recommendations.
>>
How come hot and cold things feel hot and cold when you touch them?
>>
>>56880927
When it would take about 30 feet of cable strung awkwardly around walls and doorways to get from the PC to the stereo, wireless starts to look a bit more attractive. I've tested and it's well within range of this thing. Most of that 30 feet is getting around obstacles.

What is the safest method of mass storage?
I wanted to build a NAS with RAID Drives but I've heard somethnig as simple as a power outage can fuck up all of your data even if the HDDs are fine
>>
>>56881359
Like right now? No, unless somebody can actually get the LHC to produce a planet swallowing black hole. We simply don't have enough energy and destructive things. Worst we can do is obliterate a city. H-bombs and the like pack a lot of energy and destructive potential, but they're absolutely nothing against a planet.
>>
>>56881369
If the HDDs are fine then your data should be fine. Drives falling out of RAID or your system or RAID controller getting confused somehow do happen, but this situation is usually easily fixed as long as you don't do something retarded like assume your array is corrupted and start overwriting data.

Details? Are you on a laptop with Intel and Nvidia GPUs with Optimus switching? If so, you can use Nvidia Control Panel to enable the right click "run with graphics processor" menu. It only does anything useful on programs that use DirectX or OpenGL though, since the Nvidia one wouldn't be able to add anything but a small lag on programs that draw other ways.

The Nvidia one also uses more power.
>>
what's the best way to backup windows machine and & files (documents) to a nas ? system restore won't do the job i think, since the file versions are left up to date, just the system files get restored, right ? 3rd party tool like robocopy ? It's not for me, have to set it up for a friend of my boss. It has to regularly back up/copy let's say bookkeeping to the nas.

thx

>>

>>56881774
Wait, no, I doubt I have the Optimus switching. I use the NVIDIA control panel
>>
>>56881774
At least with most programs. There are a few it chooses wrong for. Minecraft for instance, since it sees it as javaw.exe. You can change it for a program by selecting the exe file from Nvidia Control Panel, or enable the right-click "run with graphics processor" menu to select when you run a program.
>>
>>56881779
Depending on the metal around it, you might be able to squeeze the hole a little tighter in one direction so it'll grip a screw again. Apart from that, no. See if you can find a nut that'll fit the screw and use that to hold it in place.

sshd problems

I have a router A
with Computers B and C on the lan side

I can ssh into either B or C from A
I can ssh into C or router A from B
I can ssh into router A from C

but I cant ssh into B from C, I just get "Connection timed out", and that's the only one I care about.

for troubleshooting
selinux is disabled on B
firewalld is stopped (this is all on a local vbox environment before the arbitrary unhelpful flames)

so much time....

I'm freaking the fuck out. I'm working on Freelancer and some dude just asked me how I can obfuscate mp3 urls in jPlayer. It's not the difficulty that concerns me since I know a fair amount of JS, but how do I not fuck this up?
>>
>>56882184
there is probably a way to have jplayer do a session authentication into the application api and generate 1time use urls for the session.

I dont know jplayer, but thats the first thing I would look at.

generate random hash
put it in redis with a 30m expiration
link hash to mp3
hash goes at the end of the url
profit
