I recall reading that in regards to pentium 4 cpus, however this is a motherboard used for OCing ( but i'm not OCing it ), so i think thermal protection is disabled by default.

I upgraded from a Q6600 to a 5820k and for encoding and any sort of CPU heavy gaming (which for the C2Q's is most newer games).

I might wait to see zen/kabylake but i wouldnt hold my breath for anything significant from either product.

Yeah, it's a machine to be going as long as it has. It obvious bottlenecks me in some areas.

As for the small SSD, yeah... Sorta by design desu. It was $20 and fit in my budget and I wanted to try one. I moved houses and wanted to change my enclosure (my old roommate was a smoker, so my case was gross) and found a decent thermaltake case (pic related) for $40 and that left like $25-30 in my budget for a drive so I figured that a SSD would be the biggest upgrade I could get. It hasn't disappointed me yet.
