Battery Life. Right now it gets over 13hrs on text editing and web browsing, and over a week on standby. I'd instantly switch to gallium though if it gets similar times.
>>56734509
>i've had plenty of disks fail on me, but you should go and read up about the increasing probability of unrecoverable array failure with the higher capacity disks we use nowadays.
1. I'm well aware of increasing rebuild failure, and that's exactly the reason why you shouldn't use parity RAID, because even with 2 levels of parity you're still very likely to suffer from a third failure during the intensive rebuild operations
2. This does not support your point, which was that having a single disk with no parity is less likely to fail, which is simply complete bollocks.
3. This is well away from mattering for RAID10, which is the only sensible RAID mode to use for most people capable of intelligent thought.
4. I don't have a fast uplink, so syncing to an online backup storage is not an option. Instead, what I do is syncing to a pair of RAID1 archival drives in cold storage (fire safe), which I cycle through. (i.e. take one pair of disks out and leave the second pair on, so I'm protected against sudden failure while transferring snapshots). Even with the extra cost of 4 archival drives, it's still significantly cheaper, easier and more accessible than trying to go through online backup. I use ZFS for both my main pool and my backup pools.

generally agree but raid 10 isn't a great option for redundancy - if the "wrong" two disks die at close to the same time then you just lost everything.
once you've got over the initial pain of uploading your entire dataset to a cloud storage provider, you might be surprised at how small your deltas to keep things in sync are. for example, my production servers constitute a 297gb backup set but my daily delta is typically between 7 and 11gb, which can upload in about 1.5 hours at 15mb/s. once you factor in the churn on your other data, you might find that you can do it even over a shitty connection.

环境就是explorer.exe.
NET。

Sandboxed with VPN, it's not perfect but I like the recommendations it gives me. I also don't care about freedom nearly as much as that image makes it look. I used firefox before icecat so it's really no different

U mad?
why does everyone use transmission and not Deluge ?

Yes, I translated it to markdown with my Visual Studio.

I never understood why someone competent enough to use emacs would run ubuntu instead of gentoo. What's the benefit to having all that bloat and then using a text editor?
>>56744329
>>56733699
What the fuck! Are you serious?
Are you a paid or freelance programmer?
>>56746405
No. I work part-time as a sysadmin but I receive no money at all for my programming.
>>56746205
Not that poster, but I use ubuntu largely stock because that's my work system and it needs to be relatively standard. I could go to gentoo and improve my quality of life a bit but having approximately the same environment as all the other devs on my team is important when I'm working at home.
>>56746950
You're the worst kind of Mac user. For future reference, your environment is Aqua.
I feel like a normie around you hopeless spergs.

How autistic are you? I'm not trolling. Somewhat normal people use Chrome, it's the best browser by far in terms of performance. Winamp is just a classic to me and I don't want to switch. VLC just works.

Better to operate knowing you're being spied on than to take half-measures and wonder about it. At least I don't use cloud storage. OneCloud is actually real bad and despite being well in the tank for Microsoft I have to admit that. On the bright side edge is now usable so I no more double botnet from both MS and Google.

cyberfox is gr8
firefox with the old interface added in by default
telemetry/botnet disabled by default
compiled to be fast as fugg (on windows at least, on gentoo that's a given)
>hope you at least have snapshots, otherwise you're just begging for an accidental rm or rsync invocation nuking all your data
yeah I worry about this a bit
been thinking of just copying the data that is on there now to another drive and putting it in storage
Although having another kind of snapshot system would be nice... what would you suggest? ZFS?

Richard stallman uses emacs a lot. He even officially edits the source to this day.
Yet he has never installed GNU/linux on a computer personally before.
Why? Because he doesnt know how. He "cba" to learn.
