If he's a prisoner he's a pretty happy one. He doesn't have the constitution for the streets, too happy.

>>56735048
If you like Clapton style and Clapton's tone, get a Fender Stratocaster and look into lace sensor pickups later. There are a good number of inexpensive guitars that sound great. The Gretsch is a G5120, Korean, and about $600. Brands like Fender and Gibson get away with murder banking on their name and the quality control sometimes goes by the wayside.

>>56735060
I don't do amp modeling at all but have tinkered with it in the past. It's fun to play with but I'd never want to use it to make music I'd want anyone to hear. People have their own opinions and it really will boil down to a simple digital vs. analogue debate. Just got to decide how much of a purist you are.

sound quality, I don't know your level but they sound sweeter at any volume, you want to be going into a store and trying them to be honest,
else it's just some guy telling you what's what.

happyto answer any specific questions though.
>>
>>56735172
>>56735157
I had heard modeling amps were nice because they specifically replicate the sound of many popular tube amps through software leading to a result that sounds more or less the same but can be piped all through headphones or at any volume too

Not like solid state amps which were the non-tubes that came before
>>
>>56735172
>you want to be going into a store and trying them to be honest
What's has the most effect on the overall sound? The guitar or the amp? It seems like two different variables, I don't know how I could match two good ones up knowing fuck all as a total beginner

>What would you recommend for a total beginner who has good income (e.g. doesn't need to buy the shitty beginner budget models)?
Check craigslist and find a used guitar of a decent brand.

This might sound totally wrong and bad advice but some Chinese knockoff brands sound great and are half the price (like SVK compared to Gibson, $300 for a set neck and all). Just look up online if it's any good or not beforehand

Yamaha is good midrage shit too.

hmm i see.. yeah the axe-fx 2 is like the top u can get :P
another more viable option, which will get u similar results as the axe-fx, is the kemper. but still it's kinda pricy too.
so i guess u're gonna have to go with a used tube amp or smth
>>
>>56735197
They can be nice in that way. The best example of a digital application in guitar would be something like Zappa Plays Zappa, where Frank Zappa's son Dweezil does use a lot of modeling to emulate his father's sound. I just prefer to work with what I've got and prefer being a bit inventive with it to get sounds I like.

If you want to emulate a particular sound though, it's something to consider and I wouldn't advise buying anything expensive and musical without trying it.

>>56735212
If you go too cheap on either you'll be disappointed as a beginner but I'd say starting off, put a bit more priority on the guitar and how it feels. It's likely going to be with you longer than the amp.
>>
>>56735197
if you need the versatility by all means go for it, but for sound go with a real one, try some fender or marshall and really listen, i think you would really love using the setup, but there are good reasons for both ways.
It's also a good way to make friends with knowledgeable shop guys in your area etc.

>>56735212
guitar is most, but both important, particularly if your using fx and distortion which kind of takes over from the guitar sound completely, just keep trying whatever new stuff you can whenever you can, that's half the fun.

Another thing to consider is that with guitar, there is nothing new under the sun. Inventiveness comes to be a guitarist's strongest attribute and it also can help a beginner become better to struggle to find what works the old fashioned way. Having an array of amp models and sounds at your beckon call not only deters you from progressing in that way, it also keeps you from learning more about tone and what might come to be your personal sound someday.

Something to consider, YMMV.

I agree on the cleanup, I need to buy some longer cables before it gets done properly though.

But what do you mean by lacks space? It's well over 50" across with easily 35" of depth. I'm a fairly skinny guy at 145lbs, and it feels very spacious to me.

pretty good for testing a 12 o/p rig.
22 inch, 1080, easily found for a reasonable price (few years ago).
depends what you need really.

no doubt shit bye modern gamer standards, but I don't use them for that.

Thanks! The TV looks good up there, I just don't have a use for it currently. Any ideas? There is no power cable even connected.

>>
>>56735213
in case anyone wants to do this: many companies throw out their old monitors when they upgrade their shit for really cheap. usually like 20 monitors for $100 on craigslist or ebay or w/e.

>>56735230
long time player here.
the axe fx is pure trash. biggest waste of money there is.

if you want a real amp, get a fender combo.
deluxe reverb, twin reverb, any of these. they have the best clean and if you have a good clean then distortion or overdrive is no problem.
if you want many effects for cheap get the boss gt-100.
if you want it silent, also get the gt-100 and connect it to your stereo, headphones, w/e.

it's amplifier simulations are far superior to the axe-fx.

kempers are only good if you have at least 3 expensive amps.
>>
>>56737362
>drew with red on where I should place them and shit

>>
>>56737516
I used it one time only on mine. it tracked very very well. i dont remember if it only tracks one note at a time or multiple ones.

boss has been making the best multifx pedals for many years and the gt100 is pretty popular even for professionals (f.e. johnny marr)

you wont regret the purchase, it's imo the best way to use amp simulations, because if you should ever play on stage you can press a button with your feet and change amplifiers, effects, speakers, everything all at once. with a rack device like the axe fx or a kemper you will need to move there and turn knobs on a 2 inch screen.. its annoying.

the best thing is that even if you decide to get an amp at some point or some single effect pedals, you can still use that amplifiers sound instead of the simulations.

if you bought single effect pedals instead, to get the same features you'd pay many thousand $.

>>56737637
line6 has been the main competitor for a while.

the boss multieffects have many original boss pedals inside them, like the famous boss compressors/delays/many more, which the others don't have. they also have tubescreamer or big muff simulations and many more. i dont know if line6 has these licenses too and how well their effects are but there are some reasons why i would pick the gt100 over a line6 device.

>2 screens
yeah it's really worth it
>bigger
>better knob and button layout
>better (amp) simulations
>lower price
>software

you can connect both of these to your computer via usb and change the presets with your big computer screen if you prefer to do that.

my guitar teacher had a smaller line6 and it didn't last long. not saying it happens to all but boss multifx pedals are close to indestructible.

not shilling btw

Why the fuck do people buy tiny ultrawide monitors?

They're so small it's like you just snapped the top third off a regular 24" 1080p monitor.

34" 3440x1440 or stick to 16:9
