Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable

Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Someone who plays runescape with a tablet thinkpad?
Would there be any market for 2nd hand bluetooth/wwan modules? I don't really need them.
Is there a way to scrape off the runes to get a blank keyboard, without damaging the keys?

Use a belt-sander.

I don't have such a thing in my home, I thought about using a regular sandpaper, but I think that would ruin whole key texture from scratching.
Would there be a way to fix or control the damage?
Should I use UEFI for a dualboot Windows 7 + Ubuntu?
Having a hard time partitioning the disk, don't get mad at me please.

just paint it black m8

If your time holds zero value you could hand sand them. Probably start with 320 and work your way up to 1000.
If your time holds value buy a freelance tool and the appropriate attachments to do the same.

With what?
I wouldn't want the paint to get off from extensive usage.

Sandpaper the keys, then use some plastic paint on them.
At what battery capacity should I consider switching batteries?
>>56687015
You don't have to change batteries if your running low. Just plug in the AC adapter. I'd do it before 20% because thats when the power-saver mode kicks in, and your performance will suffer. Good luck!
T420 or X220?
>>56687597
The one that fits your requirements.
>>56687326
I'm talking about max capacity, not charge.
It takes extreme retardation to switch batteries after each cycle.
>>56687597
Generally unsure about what size to get? T420.
Want a small and very light Thinkpad? X220.
IPS FAGS, REPORT!
>T430s w/ mod chip
>B140HAN01.3 FHD panel from a Dell E7440
>Total cost so far is $370
Battery needs to be replaced, I only get 2 hours use.

It is limited, but you have a lot of people to sell against.
