In my head.

just like in screenshot

4096 Byte is actually 4 KiB, not 4 KB.

LastPass.

Those mean the same thing though. Ki just identifies "kibi", which is should for kilo-binary, or 2^10. However, when prefixing "bytes" "kilo" already refers to 2^10.
Words can mean different things in different contexts.
I'm pretty perpetually bemused that more than one or two people got on this train where they've confused "Byte" for an SI unit.

>>
>>56676715
Mine are actually 16 characters long
>>
>>56676563
why is size and size on disk different?
>>
>>56676723
Byte is a SI unit but that's irrelevant here.
What does matter is that Kilo has referred to 1000 long before computers existed.
Powers of 2 are more convenient for computing of course. That's why they get their own special prefix, Kibi.
Virtually all national and international standards organizations agree.

Full disk encryption of all internal drives.
The password for the FDE is in my head only.

I was seriously worried that I could forget it when I first took LSD, so I wrote it down temporarily, until the trip was over, and then burned the paper.

KeepassX. File is synced with an encrypted BTsync between my server, laptop, and phone.
>>
>>56676563
Encrypted in a password manager like any individual who doesn't suffer from the downs.
>>
>>56677205
How do you sync it and
how do you deal with simultaneous changes on 2 devices?
I usually export both to XML and use a diff tool, but it's cumbersome and error-prone.
KeepassX really could use automatic synchronization.
>>
Keepass(X). Simple, safe, works on my phone and computers.

>>56677245
I have a bash script that uses gdrive (you can gdrive on GitHub) to upload the database if it is newer. If the remote (Google Drive) is newer it'll backup the local one to another folder for safety and replace the local. Once it has reached five backed up local files due to pulls, it'll replace the oldest backup.

Now with simultaneous changes on two devices that'll be tricky. I don't create new entries often so for me that isn't really a problem and I make sure to keep the database synced on all devices so that the problem doesn't happen. If that was the case, I'd probably open each of them and copy the entry to the other database to merge them.
>>
>>56677245
I don't do simultaneous, but btsync is peer to peer. I have it synced with my server for a backup.

Should I back up my password database to google drive? It should be safe because its encrypted by keepass right?

Right now I have it backed up to a few storage devices but I want to secure them using generated passwords and I won't be able to access the backups if I don't know the password.

Pic related in a vercrypt container, I only need to remember a 30 something char password.
I use a scheme anyway, so I can easily reconstruct any password from the website domain without reading it.
>>
>>56678331
care to explain more about your formula? (examples, not the actual real formula)
>>
>>56678861
this won't change anything for 1Password. Software will still work perfectly and receive updates.

I sync my 1Password database with an encrypted local ownCloud server. So I got it on all my devices, can use fingerprint to auth on mobile instead of typing my long ass master.

Master key is a 5 word passphrase never written anywhere only in my brain. Words make it easier to remember, and make it virtually impossible to crack especially by the length of it.

Yubikey sounds great. You can even use the secondary slot on the key to save your master key and use it to type your masterkey when needed.

I use a tiny note book. It's hacking proof and I don't even need to remember all my pass. For all of you who are saying "my brain is enough", is not. If you want security, you want to have a different password for every site you are registered and use more than 10 characters, just switch to notes and you won't come back.

KeePassX. Open source and free.
Also, two factor auth where possible (like Google)
