What's up next for intel's mobile chips? Atom is no more. Core M was pretty much a no go from the beginning - priced way too high, barely more efficient than an i series u chip but much slower, and nobody but apple wants them in their devices anymore. Is this the end of intel's mobile cpus?

ARM is superior anon, x86 will die.
>>
Wait, Core M is discontinued? Source?
>>
>>56676260
Wait till 2019 thats when Intel will introduce their new line of mobile cpus

>>56676302
Core M is not dead but its not competing in phone market. Its just a low power laptop cpu.
>>
>>56676302
It's not discontinued, but by the looks of things it won't be long. It's ridiculously expensive compared to atom or arm, almost the same price as standard core chips.
>>
So why the fuck did they drop Atom? They were almost there!
>>
>>56676632
It was shit for today's standards and it only ran on Windows and iOS with full functionally the companies abandoned it for their own different reasons.
>>
With ARM's sale, this seems the perfect time for Intel to capitalise on the market's uncertainty about ARM's future.
>>
you all seem to be forgetting about the current celeron, in every cheapo laptop, Chromebook and every computer at walmart
>>
>>56676632
They started calling them Pentium and Celerons starting from the Braswell.
As far as I know the Z8000 series are still in production.

Core M is still very alive, used in ultralights and tablets, my tablet uses a passively cooled Skylake Core M.

Atom needed two chips. Not a SOC.

To power hungry for mobile. Has a win 7 atom industrial PDA at work ... OS is shit for touch.

Arm is a reduced sequential pipeline POS. It will never run windows well, and will fail in any server endeavours.

Low performance per watt.
