OK real talk. Which one is better OLED or IPS LCDs. Also, when is the king of displays (CRTs) coming back? Igekami still makes them but they are expensive as hell.

CRT is the best until OLED fixes it's burn in and pricing

That still leaves the motion blur problem(which might be fixed with rolling scan if OLED ever becomes bright enough), the input lag problem, the inability to properly display multiple resolutions without scaling, the inability to display interlaced signals natively etc.

I'm hoping Scanning Laser Tech develops faster because that's the true CRT successor
>>
OLED has burn in issues. Until then I'd stick with IPS

Just leave.

A lot of the TVs in stores are VA type LCDs. IPS has garbage black levels. 5000:1 contrast ratio is pretty common on VA LCDs vs 500:1 - 1000:1 typical of IPS panels.

Most of those are videogame problems. OLED has GOAT blacks. They'd be perfect for static/work displays if burn-in wasn't an issue.
>>
S-PVA are pretty nice, but only the high quality ones (3000:1 cr). Still have some lag but less than two frames, & some panels have less than one.

Still not a crt though. They need to try and make SED again.

Hypothetically a convex curved OLED with the right integer resolution would produce results as good as or better than a CRT monitor when playing old games. The problem, as always, is cost. Even with the obscene prices we're seeing on CRT monitors these days, they're probably cheaper or about the same as an OLED monitor would be.
>>
when will we have more affordable OLED monitors that are not sample and hold?
>>
>>56674596
>nearly $10,000
I feel like playing retro console games would be bitchin' with one of these.

Which are the problems that most matter you dipshit

And displaying interlaced content is important for old shows

OLED is just an over-glorified Plasma

Passive-Matrix OLED is kind of that but it can't be made in large sizes so all TV's are Active-Matrix

This issue can be fixed with the Rolling Scan method in Professional OLED Monitor's or VR HMD's but it makes the image too dark due to insufficient brightness
