discuss speakers, amplifiers, receivers, turntables, DACs, etc

>have 9'x13' room
>currently using bookshelves with 5.5" woofers
>thinking of getting a sub, just because there's some cheap ones out there
>don't know if 10" would be enough
my logic being that a 10" woofer has a surface area of roughly 80 cubic inches, whereas an 8" woofer has 50 cubic inches, so a pair of 8" speakers would be 100 cubic inches. I have a pair of 8" speakers at home, but their low range isn't that amazing
is there a guide anywhere for portable bluetooth speakers?
looking to buy a cheap one that I can use outdoors and sounds decent

damn room, why you gotta be like that.. give me back my 20-45Hz response!
I still don't understand where I'm supposed to put rear speakers for a 5.1 speaker set up with a computer without them getting in the way. Everyone says be artistic with it. I;m an accountant I can't into art.

something like that, I'd probably go off Amazon's highest rated/most sold speaker

what program is that?

yeah, I use a 5.1 for my room too (got it for cheap, better than my 2.0), and I've thought about doing 5.1 for stuff like movies and games, but the rear speakers are so annoying to setup
is your issue due to room or logistics? for me, my bed is behind my desk, so I can't really put speakers behind me

I guess both. The ideal position for smaller rear speakers seems to be as close as possible to your back and if I wall mount or put them closer to the wall (on the floor) they are too far away because a computer or tv is right on the wall, not center of room.
