am i not right in saying some laptops components dont work well with linux, hence why thinkpads are commonly used for it because most if not all of the components work with it
Most distros have behaved well on my dell laptops (6310 and 6430), only issue is with WiFi drivers not included with base install.

Anything. Linux's hardware support is so massive by now that it can run on anything you can think of.

I have the worst Toshiba laptop. It's old and slow. It came pre installed with Windows xp and it's been sat on a shelf for years. I wiped that shit and installed Linux on it no problem, runs better too
