They are decent for what they are.

The Sony offering has much better bass, but JBL is more waterproof.

if we are talking portable, bluetooth speakers:
bose speakers (soundlink mini) sound very good IMO.
Heard both bose/JBL a while back and the sound quality is amazing for what they are.

For studio monitors or hifi bose and JBL wouldn't be my first choice either.

They're good, unless you have the up high.

I have jbl charge 2+ , works great but the bass is too much for me. Unless you plan to use it outside, I would go Bose soundlink

Creative D100 anyone? They are pretty awesome.

Theyre bretty good. I just got the Harman Kardon Onyx 2 over the weekend and it came with the JBL Clip 2. The Onyx has enough power in it for like half a city street. And the Clip 2 I'm listening to right now can be used for up to a big studio apartment. It lacks bass, though.

I literally went down the street and i could still hear my music coming from out of my window, and i was 4 houses down. In fairness it was at max volume and at the floor close to the window
