What is so good about this book /g/?
Should I read it?
It was used as the introductory textbook for computer programming for 20 years on most universities around the world. All principles it teaches are valid still. Even more so with modern computers that do not have scarcity of resources. As a bonus it teaches you Scheme and you are able to glimpse what programming nirvana is through it.

So I don't have to know Lisp or Scheme to read the book?
>>56654650
Nope. I would argue it is better if you don't know shit but do follow the exercises if you can with Racket. There are also the original lectures on Jewtube.

>As a bonus it teaches you Scheme
Is it beginner level? I mean if user doesnt have any previous knowledge about Scheme or Lisp.

Yes on Scheme but not on maths.
Just read some of it

or watch the first lecture

and you will get a feel for it.

What is the meaning of the cover of the book?
Thats some occult shit
>>56654867
Programming is magic, programmers are wizards, and programming languages are spells.
>>56654450
It's well written by people who actually give a shit and have passion tor computers.

Only by virginity it appears.

Yes. The book was written for first year programming students. It requires no knowledge of any programming language. It has a lot of examples involving mathematical concepts, which you should already know.
That being said, it's not "beginner's level" in comparison to modern textbooks. It's actually good. It's depressing there aren't more books like this. This is the only good introductory book to any language I've read.
