hey is a mid tier budget build based around an i5 6500 and a rx480 a good idea?
yes i've done research and have built many systems in my life but i'm coming here for a last opinion before i blow next weeks paycheck
otherwise suggestions would be good.
Possibly wait till AMD's higher teir graphics cards come out for a better choice variety?

yeah that's a good point. i'm kind of just wanting something now though because i'm far to impatient and have waited a while for this.

Grab either a RX 470/480 or GTX 1060. Whichever is cheapest. Either are good holdout cards for something better. If you can get the 1060 for the same price as a 480 go for that (This coming from a 480 owner). Upgrade those in a year or two.

don't ever think to buy the 3 GB 1060.
>>56645496
go with the rx 480 anon
get the msi aib or powercolor if you're super serious about overclocking
pic related is after AMD's newest drivers that reduced dx11 overhead

480 costs 50+ dollars more than 470 for a 2-5% increase in performance.
Get 470 or spend a bit more and get 1060/1070

The new drivers are starting to widen the gap between the 470 and 480, though I would get a 470 8g over a 480 4g. If you buy a 480 get the 8gig.
