This is basically what I was thinking. Heck, even one wouldn't be so bad. The fact that Apple got rid of a standard jack (3.5mm) and kept their proprietary Lightning port was a nasty combo. If they had switched to USB C at the same time, they could've accelerated the manufacturing of USB C headphones.
