They don't, I never said that. Locked iPhones are sold on the black market for low prices since sellers think people will only be able to salvage them for parts. I've been playing with iToys for almost a decade. Started off with the original iPhone in 2007 when I was 16. iOS 1.0.2 and below were a hackers dream because of the weak security, lack of encryption, shit image validation, direct access to mem and kmem from userland... the list goes on.
