> Get prebuilt HP Pavilion in excellent condition from business next to where I work for free
> Core 2 Duo E4500 @2.2GHz
> 4GB DDR2 RAM
> No hard drive
> 250w Cooler Master PSU

Probably going to pick up a cheap hard drive next paycheck and use it as a game server. If I can find a cheap replacement power supply I might throw an old R9 280x I have lying around in there and then it would be a fairly decent secondary gaming machine for older stuff.

The case is goofy as shit though, it has the door on the right side instead of the left, but it's not a BTX system - they just rotated the mobo 180 degrees so that the CPU is on the bottom and the PCI slots are on the top.

Sadly it shipped with a TV tuner, but someone removed that before I got to it.

Any of the following regularly occurring threads on /g/ is either directly or indirectly about Windows gaming:

* Intel vs. AMD threads
* GPU threads
* Various types of rig/battlestation/guts/Speccy threads ("What parts should I buy, /g?" "Is this part good, /g/?" "Check out my specs, /g/.")
* All Windows discussion and support threads (obviously)

These threads only serve to discuss products for playing video games. They have nothing to do with programming, networking, security, privacy, freedom, design, usability, or anything else /g/ related.

These threads and the people who post within them belong in either >>>/v/ or >>>/vg/, as they are the appropriate boards in which to discuss their hobby, along with "console war" and "PC vs. console" threads. This should be Rule #4 for /g/ and it should be aggressively enforced until the children finally get it and move on.

This is the thread to petition Hiroshimoot to cure the /v/ cancer in /g/. If you really care about technology and not just vapid consumerism, help by adding your voice to this discussion.

We can do it, /g/.

Winkcucks don't care about technology in general.

All they care about is the product, not the method. Product is >>>/v/ and the method is >>>/g/.

Products are GPU shitstorms, speccy threads, guts threads, casing threads etc.

A typical winbabby's perception of judging a GPU is "Gaming benchmarks".

None of the gamer wincuckolds are interested in the method or process of making games. Game is not technology, programming games is.

Buying GPU is not technology and neither is discussing which build will play the latest manchild games.

those meme fans dropped my top cards vrms from 90c down to 75c and core from 90c thermal throttling down to 73c locked at 1310mhz. bottom card runs in the 60's on both core and vrms now as well.

I spent $200.68 after taxes and shipping on my noctua fans in my build (>>56610870) 3 120mm iPPC fans as exhaust, and 2 140mm iPPC fans as intake (they are mounted on the front on the other side of the radiator) I like the iPPC fans because they dont look like poo in loo.

the only downside is that they sound like a jet when they are running at 100%, and because I only have a molex to 5 pwm fan adapter they always run at 100%, doesnt bother me none because I can just turn my music up.
>>
>>56625371
Yes they are, and I really like them, I was using Corsair AF series quiet edition fans as intakes, the stock rear case fan and stock H115i fans. The mag lev fans running at the same rpm are much quieter and dropped all my temps slightly. At about 1200rpm they are pretty much silent, I also tried running them at 1500rpm and just get some airflow noise.

Pic related.

I really like them so far, granted the only reason all of this shit is in this case to begin with is because I couldnt sleep for about a day and a half and decided to take this case apart, was reading online that the case """""doesnt""""" support water cooling... well, it does, people are just too lazy to do a little /diy/ and unscrew 8 screws and drill 4 more holes.

Had to remove the hard drive cage and screw the radiator from my corsair h100i gtx using the small screws that came with the cooler, and then mounted the 140mm fans on the other side of the radiator, after that I marked the holes from the cage, used a center punch and a 1/8th drill bit to drill the holes, took maybe 15 total minutes of figuring out where I want it mounted and then drilling

why not if you have it, it frees up the sata ports and don't matter if it's IDE because disk drives aren't fast enough for it to be a bottleneck

I built this yesterday, it's the first pc I've ever built.

It was stressful when I didn't know what anything did, but now that it's done, I kinda like it. I was wondering if you guys think I should redo the wiring tomorrow? I didn't know you were supposed to put all the wire in the back of the case.

Solid build anon. In the future you want to swap out your PSU for a modular one, it makes cable management so much easier. You should also upgrade your CPU cooler and get an SSD.
>>
>>56625731
good job man. I would re do the wiring, now that you know where everything goes, just so you can admire it, I agree with >>56625773 with the cpu cooler and the psu, if you dont want to water cool just get a meme-master hyper 212 evo, solid cooler for the price, and a fully modular PSU is good too, only need to plug the cables you need in, and dont need to find spots for the rest of the unused ones, and an ssd is a solid upgrade to any pc, you can get high capacity ones for fairly cheap.

i use a Hyper 212 EVO on mine and i'm just fine @ 28 °C

nice... specs?
>>
>>56625793
also I should add, if you can, get a second fan for a push-pull configuration on the hyper212 evo, even though its a non-k cpu, it will keep the cpu cooler thus limiting thermal throttling which is always good.

Syber PC from the frontpage Slickdeals post I made awhile back.

Added the case lighting and front Riing fans + 2 Antec TrueQuiet up top.

i7-6700K @ 4.8GHz ~ corsair H60 water cooler.
16GB DDR4 @ 2800MHz

GTX 1060 heavily OC'd, usually stays under 60C due to excellent case airflow so the GPU fans almost never come on.

That empty return though. Enjoy your bubbles

nice
red lighting/10

I like how the rad is mounted, with the hoses down sitting on the graphics card it gives it a cleaner look, hiding some of the motherboard's capacitors and other things that IMO take away from muh esthetics, yet keeping the cooler visible for that extra fps in game when the logo is on.

Yup. Sure is autism around here.

that's awesome to hear! even more tempted now to pick up eight of them.

All those empty drive bays. Why have both cages in there?
>>
>>56625550
i use to have those noctua ippc fans. had four 120mm 3000 rpm versions and two 140mm 3000rpm versions.

fans truly sounded like a turbine at max rpm but they worked extremely well in pwm mode. i had set a pwm profile in my motherboard bios and they only hit 3000rpm when shit hit the fan. most of the time they ran around 1800rpm when under normal load.

1200 - 2000rpm they emit the gentle sound of rushing air. under 1000 they're unnoticeable. 2000+ the turbine kicks in.

I have a tendency to lose parts of my case when I start taking stuff out. Plus with lack of a window on my Case, they don't bother me too much.
>>
>>56625971
mine are the 3k rpm versions as well, forgot to mention that
