It's been tried and it doesn't work. You can have a heads up display (HUD), that's already been done. You can't have augmented reality without a control regime that doesn't involve a controller or eye gestures like blinking which are distractions or voice recognition which is the worst idea of all.

so you want interactive AR or static/programed messages?

Because interactive is a pain in the ass as >>56608175 said, you can't make a decent input without fucking up the driver.
For static it can work, until some asshole make one mark that flood the whole screen with zero transparency cocks and force the user to turn it off so they don't crash.
