Hey guys, just had a weird question. Is is possible to use coated steel wire in place of copper magnetic wire for coil windings in an altenator. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible seeing how it's ferro magnetic. Just a thought I had.

Yes, as long as the coating is insulating, the material doesnt affect as long as it is conductive. I don't know the effect of th magnetic field with iron tough
