It depends on how long you intend to use your current card.

The RX480 rapes GP106 on next-gen engines like Doom that are based around deferred compute-intensive processing, but Maxwell/Pascal cards will have the edge for geometry heavy and/or DX11 style renderers.

As long as you keep your 480 for 2+ years and don't care about power use, you'll be fine.
