Are USB wireless adapters a meme?
In my new apartment I can't get the ethernet port to work (keeps cutting in and out and even when it's in it says unidentified) so I bought one of these USB wireless adapters from Walmart. Basically I have 5 bar connection but I have huge lag spikes where my outgoing will get 30% packet loss while still maintaining 5 bar conn Meanwhile my incoming connection is fine.
Is this the stupid little USB's fault?
Should I buy a real wireless network card?

If its running on 2.4GHz it will probably shit out any time someone runs a microwave. There is only so much bandwidth and with everyone running their own AP you get the picture.
You need the 5GHz

Oh okay gotcha.
Would I be fine buying a 5.0ghz USB one from Walmart or should I order a card?

If its just 802.11n you are fine with USB2.
If you want to get AC speeds you should use USB3 or a pcie card.

My internet is only like 16mbps.
So I'll be fine just using usb2 right?
Would it be cheaper doing pcie?

I would just buy whichever is the cheapest as long as your router supports it.
There really isn't any reason to go into USB3 or pcie territory without AC and mimo in play.

This. I just moved into an apartment and shit was terrible until I got an 5ghz adapter.
Even without ac/usb 3.0 you'll still get max N speed which is good enough for most internet.
