is going from a Q6600 to an i5-6600 worth it ?
>Q6600
As in the duo core from about a decade ago? Yeah that would be a respectable upgrade.

Q is further down the alphabet than an i and the number is the same, so it's not worth it.
How about an i5 2500K to basically anything recent from Intel?

Depends. For gayming, nah.

I went from an i7 920 to a i5 6600.
At first I'm like what the fuck it doesn't seem much better and the cpu is high. Then I realized it was throttling down to 0.7GHZ and my power consumption was down almost 200 watts. Oh, I'm sorry CPU for doubting you.

>tfw plebs "upgrade" from an 8800 GTX to a 1080

Serious answer. Depends what you're doing but to be honest, not too much. I mean at the current price for intels it's probably not worth it unless your computer is struggling with certain things. Try again in a few years.
