On a related note, I was on /b/ one day in 2008 and one anon posted an encrypted rar file which allegedly contained nudes of his girlfriend because he was so certain that nobody could crack the rar encryption. I did what any sensible anon would do and saved the rar file in the hopes that one day the rar file would be possible to crack, either due to vulnerabilities or because I would have a machine fast enough to crack it. It's of course equally likely that it's all a ruse, but if I do manage to crack it I'll be sure to share its contents with you guys, whether they be actual nudes or an elaborate almost decade-long trolling maneuver.

Back in 2001 or 02 I found a rar password cracker on one of those sketchy warez sites. I ran it on a rar I downloaded off gnutella and it worked. It seems so implausible now considering that the computer I used had one of those shitty celeron processors running sub 900mhz.
