who is the best smart watch? is it Apple even though they went for square? is samsung any good?

im really like watches but never owned one with a display b5, so i wonderered what you guys recommend for smart watches? even you think thay are all bad, if you HAD TO CHOOSE which one would you get (you have to wear it at least once to a public event and you cannot sell it adterwards)

>Charging a watch every few days

No

I already chose for a Pebble Time. The 4.0 update is kinda bad for me since it removes some functionality, but I very much enjoy my smartwatch, 5 days of battery life makes the charging bare able.

Is huawei watch any good?

I have worn an Apple Watch literally every day since last September. I'd recommend it. I had an Android Wear watch before it (Gear Live), and it wasn't even in the same league. You do have to charge it every 1-2 days, but that's as simple as taking it off at night and laying it on the little plastic disc that comes with it. It's really not a big deal in most cases. For the amount of practical functionality you get out of it, it's more than worth putting up with.

My favorite Apple Watch feature is the ability to make my iPhone ding from a button in the watch's dashboard. This means that dropping my phone in between two couch cushions, or leaving it underneath a comforter, or leaving it somewhere in the garage isn't an issue at all anymore. Just push the button, listen, and there you go.

Along the same lines, you can also take speakerphone calls on it, which uses especially handy around the house when you might not have your phone on you, and are still in a private enough environment to use speakerphone. I don't use this terribly often, but it's saved my bacon more than once.

And, of course, there's the notifications. Notifications for everything, unless you decide you don't want that specific app to generate them.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.

Can I read emails on it?

will the apple watch 2 not require pairing? can you use the gps on the apple watch 2 as a map? are there any map apps for apple watch?

thinkin of getting it depedign on ur answers

Is there a dropbox app so I can view postage stamp porn in the shower?
>>
>>56578491

I don't use the built-in email app, so I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly sure you can, at minimum, read a truncated version of the email. Honestly, in practice, I'd imagine you're going to run into a lot of formatting issues due to the form factor alone.
>>
>>56578511
What about Amazon related stuff?
>>
>>56578499

Pairing? As in, do you need an iPhone to set it up and use it? If that's what you're asking, I'm not completely sure, but I'm fairly certain the answer is no. It'll still need an iPhone to function, it'll just be able to go without it sometimes.

As for using the GPS as a map, again, I can't say for sure, having not laid hands on the new Watch, but my best guess is that the answer is 'probably'.

Are there map apps for the Apple Watch? Absolutely? It comes with Apple Maps, and there's a Google Maps app too, and there's a bunch of other special-purpose apps like Strava that track jogs and stuff.
>>
>>56578539

>Amazon related stuff

As in shopping on Amazon? Yeah, there's a Watch app. You voice-search for stuff from it, and if you find what you want, you can use your Amazon 1-Click settings to buy it. It's a self-contained experience, or so I recall from my experience with the app.

Man I would pay some shit for a smartwatch that was a phone at the same time. I know it sounds ridiculous, but to pay for an extension of something else I can carry seems dumber than the notion of having to talk to your watch.
>>
Serious question: What do you guys use those "smart" watches for? Is there any point in having one if you're already dragging a cellphone around?

If I could ditch the cellphone and only use the smartwatch for everything (not sure how you'd browse 4chan on that thing..?) then I would see the point.

I personally haven't worn a watch since I got my first cellphone back in the 1990s. It was basic but it did have a clock right there on the display and phones still do.
>>
>>56578543
Are you getting the second watch?
>>
>>56578571

They have those -- mainly Samdung and LG -- but they're very thick and have relatively poor battery life as a result.
>>
>>56578579

That's a great question. No, I'm almost certainly not getting the new one. From what the beta testers have said, WatchOS 3 breathes new life into the chugging Apple Watch hardware, so I should be happy with what I've got indefinitely. I don't need swim-proofing, I don't need GPS, and I can't afford a ceramic chassis, so I'm probably going to pass.
>>
>>56578581
Well, it's a start. I honestly want this in the future.
>>
>>56578576
I'm the same way. I ditched them back in 2000 after getting out of high school. I had to wear one for work in 2005 and that was weird. Left that job in 2006 and haven't worn one since. I did buy the casio terrorist watch for shits and giggles.

Only thing that can convince me to buy a watch is the health aspects. That one show Continuum had a watch like that. It could connect to your nervous system, reading all kinds of health info. Even knew how many calories you used a day.
>>
>>56578605
Would you upgrade if you lost or broke your watch1 ? would you just buy a preowned/old watch1? is watch2 so shit?
>>
Is apple doing a trade in for those that want to upgrade?
>>
>>56578576

Honestly, this is what everyone says, but once you start getting your notifications on your wrist and deciding what warrants your intervention before even pulling out your phone, a lot of people just can't go back. I know I can't.

Plus, alarms, timers, maps, and PCalc are handy. And I can use my watch to control my Philips Hue lights.
>>
>>56578617

Would I upgrade if I lost mine? Probably. The new Watch isn't shit -- it's great, I'm always in favor of more durable products -- it's just not worth the effort for someone who already has one.

>>56578621

Sadly, not that I know of. I might do it, if they did.
>>
>>56578655

Unless a fuckin rotor charging is implemented there is 0 use for a smartwatch.

Also they are not half as durable as normal watches. come back when they have a sapphire glass with AR coating.

Apple watch is meme of stolen tech as usual.
I have a Samsung gear2 which literally dose everything.
Has map app functions, "find phone" literally came out with the first version, modifiable widgets aps and watch faces, music control, notifications, email can be read and maintained, text quick reply, tap pay, samsung fit, alarm, stop watch, timer, etc.
Apple literally copied and fucked it.

I think smart watches are a stupid trend, but if I were to get myself one, I'd go for a Pebble. I already prefer digital watches to analog ones. With a passively lit display and long battery time, the Pebble has no competition.
