With the current situation of the internet, will usenet make some manner of a comeback?

Please elaborate.

Mainly any potential fallout from the transfer of ICANN, but also the push for deanonymity, commercialization, datamining, and stuff like that.

Then yeah, definitely. Don't expect any great majority of internet users to follow, though.

Is it populated enough to make it worthwhile though?

The internet in general is far too heavily populated to support a community like old-style usenet. In the late 80s the internet was a small town of a few thousand people, now it's NYC.

What was old-style usenet like?
The last round of index taledowns killed a lot of usenet users
>>56577547
When was that? What was that?
Not when IPFS and ZeroNet smash both Torrents and Usenet.

Binary groups are retarded and I fully support all usenet providers which block binaries.
Usenet is for text only.
