What type of RAID does /g/ use?
>>56575738
ZFS with mirror vdevs
btrfs RAID 6 would be literally perfect for the hobbyist data-hoarder, if only it, y'know, worked properly
Weekly backups

>ZFS with mirror vdevs
this, it just works
I don't backup because I have nothing of importance
RAID10 4 lyfe

Thirding this. ZFS mirror.
>>56575738
Storage Spaces (because Windows)
Redundancy is set based on function, but usually RAID 6 or RAID 10.

I use a RAID 1 mirror set...
... on my laptop.
BTRFS RAID1 until they unfuck RAID5

Mah nigga.
Raid 0 for OS and mass data drive with backup of mass data to a mirrored drive of equal size. Probably going to replace the mass data thing with 2 mirrored drives and consolidate a game drive to a single larger drive. Waiting to see what Newegg does with 4TB hard drive prices this holiday season.

if you're gonna do pairity RAID use 6 and not 5 so you don't worry about drive failure or read errors during your 48-hour resilvers
>>56575738
I don't. I don't need uptime.
>>56575738
RAID1 because it is cheap (only 2 drives) and btrfs with snapshots enabled. My monitoring is good enough and emails me on the rare occasion it sees a drive failure at which point I'll order a new one to restore redundancy.
